I have a nickel Trooper and a Blue Trooper. Both could use refinishing...esp. the nickel one. Does Colt do this? Any ideas?

Colt reblued my Python and did a great job. Not sure about nickle. Check their site.

EDIT - Checked it myself. They do offer nickle.

Colt does factory-original refinishing work.
The gun comes back looking like factory brand new.

They also offer other levels of polish from satin blue, to standard blue, to the full mirror polish Royal Blue.
They will convert a gun from one finish to another like blue to nickel, or nickel to blue.

Prices are competitive for the level of quality they do.

I surfed the site for a while and found the price list.

$375 for a nickel job

$325 for a royal blue blue job.

Isn't royal blue what I remember troopers and pythons being dressed in originally....that beautiful deep, blue luster that no other manufacturer had?

While it would be cheaper to convert the nickel on to blue...I feel compelled to maintain it's original finish for some oddball reason.. I also have an old police positive that needs redressing, but I don't know that it was originally that royal blue.

I recently sent in a couple of old Diamondbacks in to Colt for a refinish. I haven't gotten them back yet but when I do I'll post pics. TRUE collectors consider it blasphemous to refinish old Colts, but these aren't really rare collectibles, and they are just shooters for me. I don't intend to ever sell them and will eventually pass them on to my son. One is a 6" 22LR and the other is a 2" .38 cal. snubby. They were both nice mechanically but cosmetically "challenged" and I just wanted to freshen up their appearance. I had them go through the internals to make sure all clearances and timings were correct. My 2" doesn't have the original box/papers so is less than optimum for TRUE collectors and I just want it as a nice shooter. The 6" .22 did come with the box/papers though, but I still intend to shoot it as there are plenty of those still available if you take a look at Gunbroker.com. Colt is the ONLY choice for me anyway to do any work on these old classics, either internally or externally. Colt definitely isn't quick in their turn around time, but when you get it back it will be well worth the wait for the quality work they typically perform.
