I just purchased a brand new in hard chrome from my father. Never has been fired. The pistol is mint he bought it new in 08. Has just sat in his safe since.
My question is should I shoot it and enjoy it or keep it NIB and buy a cheaper 45 to shoot. The scb is my only 45.

Shoot it.

That's what I would do.

Colts are made to be shot specially a Special Combat Gov't! It would be a sad story if you just make it a safe queen.

I wish you had posted that you cleaned, oiled it and got a good mag for it and gave it back running. To your dad.
Colts would fix it if you couldn't.
Shame.

The failure occurred in two places...

1. You did it.

2. You admitted to it.

Your GLOCK 21SF is a fine weapon in its own right and it sounds like you made the exchange for a reason...good luck with your Plastic Fantastic...(does Dad want to sell the Colt's???...:D)
