Ok...I fell in love with a baby eagle...nice feel, nice quality...I want one! After some searching, I'm a bit lost however...

1-all steel vs. poly/steel..any real difference besides weight?

2-standard, full sized have a mag choice of 10...or 13 / 15 (40 / 9mm ),,,so are the mags interchangable, as in if I buy a 40 with a 10 rd mag, will a 13 rd mag fit with no problems...is there no difference in the guns...is this a "california" type thing

3-is the 45 ONLY available in semi compact, 10 rd mag...not standard?

I'm probably going to go with a 40...but that 45 is tempting...anybody have the 45?...if so, what kind of accuracy are you getting from it...ANY other advice or help...thanks guys!

Well, I own one, and although I don't know the answers to all of your questions, here goes.

1. I have all-steel, as a result of my wife telling me that the all-steel "felt like the real gun."

2. 13-rnd mag with my .40, and I believe the 10rnd mags would fit - but I haven't tried. I would just recommend the 13 rnders.

I don't know the answer to #3.

I've tested the Baby Eagle next to a Glock 22, and I'd always choose the Baby Eagle. (Ambidextrous safety!) And I don't think you'll have a problem with the .40, either –– very little recoil.

Anything else, and I'll try to help.

kairos_time gave a great answer.

answer to #1; yes, the Poly has been more trouble prone in the past, only buy new if you must have one.

answer to #3; Yup, America only got the 45 in Semi-Compact configuration.

Frame Safety version is rare, but not impossible to find.
One or two come up every few months on Gun Broker.

The steel frame guns have always felt better to me than the polymer ones. I don't know why, but the shape of the poly guns doesn't fit the hand the way the stell ones do. Baby eagles do not like to be limp wristed, so that is harder to accomplish with the polymer framed guns.

The 10 round mags are either left over from the AWB or are inteded for the states with current mag capacity restrictions. They should function fine regardeless of the gun, but unless I could get them for $15 each or less, I'd stick with the factory ones. Also note that the mags are identical to the mags for the EAA Witness (you'll notice a "T" mark in an upside down triangle on the mag referring to Tanfoglio). The 9mm magazines are listed as 15, but can fit up to 17, but I usally load only to 16, or 10 when I'm practicing.

3-is the 45 ONLY available in semi compact, 10 rd mag...not standard?

There are only two frame versions of the 45 (and one is new) and they are both semi-compact. There is the traditonal, and the Baby Eagle II (with the rail). I have a brushed chrome gun of the orginal configuration.

I'm probably going to go with a 40...but that 45 is tempting...anybody have the 45?...if so, what kind of accuracy are you getting from it...ANY other advice or help...thanks guys!

I have 3 9mm full size, 1 40 compact, and a 45. They are all very accurate and easy to shoot well. Accuracy is similar to a Sig 226. The design lends itself to accuracy and even the EAA witness poly compact I used to have shot as well, though with less reliablity. The 9s and the 45 run perfectly and eat everything I've tried. The 40 is picky about ammo, and won't feed most hollow points, and has had problems with the way much 40 cal ball has squared off noses. I feed it exclusively hornady TAP and it loves it. I imagine that it's problems aren't the norm, though.
