First Time at the Range with my DE .50

I took my new Desert Eagle to the range for the first time today so here's my update. I was amazed at the recoil, or the lack there of. I'm not saying that there was no recoil or anything, but I was expecting a LOT more. I guess the weight of the gun helps control that. My Glock 32 (Compact .357 Sig) is more uncomfortable to shoot than the Desert Eagle. I let one of the ROs shoot it and his thumb got bit by the slide. Nothing horrible but a nice long, shallow cut along his thumb that drew blood. I guess he was trying to get a better grip to control for the anticipated recoil. I used my standard pistol grip and had no problems. I was pretty accurate with the gun all things considered. I can't wait to head back out next weekend, hopefully. I don't have any pics of me shooting it because a friend who was supposed to come to the range with me bailed because of the rain, but here's a pic of the gun instead.

Nice! Mine looks very similar to that: Br. Nickel w/24K Gold appointments except mine was made in Israel and lacks the caliber engraving near the muzzle.
They are impressive shooters, I like hunting whitetails with mine. The gold sights are great for shooting in low light, believe it or not!

And I agree that it is an impressive shooter. I need to get a lot more trigger time to get used to shooting it but for the first time I was very impressed.

Interesting. Mine lacks the engraving on the right side of the slide.

WOW that is a beautiful DE! I got mine last November in the standard matte black finish. I was surprised at the recoil...wasn't bad at all! But man, is it LOUD!
You're going to love your DE...be sure you take her apart and give her a good cleaning after each trip to the range!

Hi and thank you for your range report. I just took my DE to the range this past weekend and have the same comments on the recoil. I just ordered the Hogue DE grips from Magnum Research that you have on your pistol. I hope it gives me a better grip than the stock grips. Now just need to find additional ammo and I'll be set. regards

Congrats! I Love my 50 DE!
