Old / older Taurus model 82 I think

My neighbor brought over two of those surplus Taurus .38 Spl. revolvers that have come on the market as of late for a good cleaning.

One was the typical ex-police model 82, 4" heavy barrel, fixed sights, lanyard ring etc.

The second has me scratching my head. It looks like an 82 BUT,,,,rebounding hammer instead of a transfer bar, fixed lanyard bar loop on the butt instead of swiveling lanyard ring, narrowed trigger and guard, narrow low profile hammer spur, radiused frame hump at the top of the back strap, pinned barrel and four screw side plate like the pre-model 10 S&W K frames and a bunch of other minor differences between the two.

Different model or just earlier production ?
