I bought the wife the 5.25, and she likes it. She hasn't taken it out to shoot yet, but will later this week.

My dad bought me a "belated wedding gift" of my choice of any handgun in the shop. I already had the 3.8 45 on layaway at a different shop, but they were closed yesterday. So I picked it up there instead I figure I'll transfer the balance onto the safe I also have laid away.
I already had a 5 inch XD45, so I never really thought I would notice much difference in accuracy between it, and a 4.5 inch XDm. I haven't heard anybody compare the two, so for now, I don't plan on getting the 4.5.

It shot pretty well, and I ended up putting about 150 rounds through it. I noticed while shooting, that without the grip extension, my pinky finger got pushed into my other hand, with a little bit of discomfort, while firing. Not a big deal, but just something I noticed. I changed the backstrap out afterward, for the smallest one, and was somewhat suprised to see that the grip extensions still matched up. I have yet to shoot it with the small backstrap installed, but it does seem to fit better.

Later, just out of curiosity, since the frames are both the same length, I swapped her frame onto my slide, and mine onto hers. They both fit, and pass a function check. Legos for Grownups
I haven't tried shooting them in this setup yet, but I would anticipate they work just fine.

The 5.25 inch slide, on the short 3.8 frame is a GOOFY looking bastard. I will take pics later today.

Santa brought me an XDm BiTone 5.25 in 9mm in November for shooting IDPA. I really love the sights on the 5.25. Too bad you missed the magazine promo.
