WTK: Chinese Type 54 Tokarev Pistol Rear Sight Replacement

Question for the board experts.

The Chinese Type 54 Tokarev that I am working on for a buddy is shooting 7 inches high at 25 yards.

He was able to obtain a lower rear sight (Polish manufacture) and my question is on removing the existing rear sight and installing the replacement rear sight.

Looks like the rear sight is in a standard dove tail.

Is there a direction for removal? Removal from left to right or right to left?

I plan to secure the slide in a padded vise and tap/hit the rear sight with a brass punch/hammer.

Any pointers that anyone can offer would be appreciated.

Looking down the slide from rear sight to muzzle, remove by tapping left to right.
