Why are CZ-82 mags so flippin expensive ??
I just got a CZ-82 from CDNN & it only comes with 1 mag (my bad... i should have looked around because wiedners has a CZ-82 w/2 mags, holster, lanyard & cleaning rod for $200) Anyway, I digress...
I can't for the life of me find CZ-82 mags for less than $25 !! (the most expensive I've seen is $41)
Really ?? The mags are worth 1/5th the cost of the gun ?
Hell, the whole reason I was so gung ho about a CZ was that 9mm Makarov ammo was so cheap, & even that has gone up in price....
Anyone know of any deals ???
Thanks in advance !!
The Vz 82 saw service with exactly one country. A very small country. A limited number of magazines exist. The civilian version, the CZ 83 did not see wide distribution in the U.S..
Edit;
If you think they are expensive now, try finding them in 10 years. Buy now.

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but AK mags, FAL Mags, Makarov Mags were all dirt cheap at one time because everyone made and used them. They are becoming more expensive as the surplus stockpiles dwindle. As with any finite resource, if you want it, get it while you can.
You think cz82 mags are expensive. I can't even fucking find mags for my cz52, and one of the two that i DO have has an intermittent issue where the floorplate just pops off during firing (sigh). :( Sometimes, C&R just ain't too friendly.

I nearly bought one of those back in the 90's....I never like the feel of the CZ-52 But the CZ-82 fits my fat hand just fine....
Actually, I agree; my brother bought a CZ82, i got a CZ52. The cz52 is a very different (larger) gun. But, 9x18mm is kind of a joke compared to 7.62x25 ;) And that is the primary reason I got the cz52...the tokarev cartridge is awesome. When only 80$ per 1260 rounds, I bought quite a fucking lot of it. I'm good to go for a few decades of shooting through this cz52. Also, there was a massive abundance of spare parts cheap. Got a crapload of extra recoil springs, roller bearings, etc. etc. :)
My best advice for you would be to troll the miscellaneous magazine bins at stores, gunshows, etc. Since the smaller CZs are unusualy, people tend to lump their mags in here.
After a few weeks of diligent looking I picked one up for $5.

Russia and the former ComBloc satellite countries are dropping their Makarov sidearms and going to 9mm Luger guns, so the surplus market
has suddenly seen a glut of Makarov-chambered pistols. Any retailer selling a CZ-82 with only one mag is stockpiling the second mag against future demand.
One day in the future, 9mm Mak ammo demand will slow and price will accelerate.

CZ83 mags are interchangeable with the Vz82.
The civilian version, the CZ 83 did not see wide distribution in the U.S..
They are still being distributed and magazines are being made for the CZ83.
As for the Vz52 pistol.
The one I had would fire upon being decocked by the decocker function on the safety. The pistol is accurate but the sights are lacking. All and all a decent milsurp in a really good round.

Quite right JHansen, the CZ-83 .380 mags are interchangeable with a VZ-82 pistol. I have about two dozen and they can be purchased from CZ-USA. VZ-52 mags can be bought from Cheaper Than Dirt if you need more. I love the VZ-52 as it was made at the Strakonice factory where my grandfather worked.
