I would say you were lucky to get $180. The gun shop I work at sells them new for $299, and couldnt give more that $150 on a trade in that was in excellent condition.

You always get less if you trade in, just like a car.

I looked into trading in my full inox 92fs with factory bead blasted 15rd ss mags with base plates that match the frame of the gun (you can't find them anymore), and a few other custom factory parts (one nice gun)... along with a few factory 20 rounders and about 6 factory 15 rounders, as I just don't shoot the gun anymore.
I was offered $290 as a flat out trade in for the whole thing.

I kept the gun, and it will continue being a safe queen.

Put the PF9 up for sale, I'll give you $200 + shipping for it... (not that I would talk about such a thing in this forum )

Exactly. I once took a used P226 Navy in immaculate condition to Gander Mountain to see what they would give me for it - they offered $250.

I ended up selling it privately for almost 3 times that. I NEVER sell a gun to a gun store; you'll never get what the gun is worth.

The dealer can buy them new for $200 to $210 depending upon which distributor he deals with. Several shops I know of will generally allow you the wholesale value of your gun (assuming it's in excellent to like new condition) as far as trade in against their retail price. Of course a lot depends on how much their gun is marked up. When I was in the guns business I could normally get the wholesale price out of used excellent condition firearms. I didn't mark my guns up as much as some places so normally couldn't allow quite the wholesale price as far as trade in value.
