Pocket pistol for CCW
I need a pocket pistol for carrying in the summer and during jogging that is something small and light, but powerful enough. I have limited my choices to the S&W Bodyguard 380, but I'm concerned about the 380's power; the Walther PPS 9mm, but I'm concerned about its weight because I already have a G26 that CCW and it is very similar in weight; and a Sig 938, but I'm concerned about it since it is so new. Which one of these or another pistol would you choose?
Stay with the G26, more rounds and can use 19 and 17 mags.
Wait for S&W M&P 9 single stack...

I guess I suck at polls - I voted PPS but would revise to:
Use the G26 and if it doesn't work in current mode, try a different holster setup? I would go PPS if 9mm was a must and I was buying a gun for the purpose. LCP if 'pocket' matters more than 'gun'.
My Kahr p40 covert on sale in the EE right now!
S&W 340PD
Scandium frame, titanium cylinder, super light, .38/.357 options, very corrosion resistant, plenty powerful, disappears in a pocket.
Eff pocket carrying a G27/26, too big for me, and I used to pocket carry an SP-101
I settle on a J-frame
J frame for me too.

380 is not for me, and I don't have pockets big enough for the G26 or PPS. my recommendation would be a Kahr PM9. I've had one for about a year that has been perfect.
This, or get bigger cargo pants and carry a P2000SK and be full blown badassery.

I have both Bodyguard guns. I carry the .380 nearly all the time because it's the perfect size to disappear in my pocket or iwb. I'm scrawny and I print terribly with any larger handgun unless I wear a coat. I haven't carried the .38 yet as I haven't setteled on a holster yet. I have the Ruger LC9 and a iwb that fits me pretty well but I just prefer carrying the BG .380. Hell I almost forget I have it sometimes.
If you are willing to spend $1,000 for a great pocket pistol I recommend the Rohrbaugh R9 9mm pistol. I personally feel it's the only true pocket 9mm out there. I also have a S&W 642 that has served me well, however it is a bit bulkier than the R9.
I recommend a 640/642/340 Centennial revolver which is what I pocket carry 90% of the time.
I recently got a CM9 that I have in my pocket right now. It is lighter and flatter than my 640 and has two more rounds but doesn't have as much
grip to hold on to.

One thing I like about my 442 is that I can whip it out of my pocket at least 2x as fast as an auto,
the grip is easy to grab and get out fast, I struggle drawing an auto from my pocket

I voted other. Ruger LCP. I have heard and seen issues with the bodyguard 380s with ftf , but never with the LCP. I throw it in the pocket of gym shorts and never notice it until its time to take it out
You sexy little bitch..............
My little girl.

Ruger LC9

I have one of those too, man, I
love that little 9.
This is easy! Unless we are talking BACK UP CARRY
G26 more rds on target
I carry a P229 40sw IWB and a S&W 637 J frame
I reccomend the larger G19 Gen pre 2011 fpr main carry
and the G26 or J frame for back Up even jogging

PM/CM9 or J-frame.
The only actual pocket pistol you posted was the s&w. The rest are too big and too heavy for most to pocket.
I'd go with it or another 380 of small size. Ruger–– makes a bunch of nice guns right now lcr, lcp etc that would work as well.
When I pocket carry it's a LCP in a GURU pocket holster. Fits in all my pants and you would never know it's there, even in my summer dress pants. It's reliable, cheap, light weight and surprisingly accurate (for me anyway). I don't think I would consider most of the other choices to really be pocket guns anyway. The S&W BG is having too many growing pains for me to go that route.
IMO, .380 isn't an acceptable option....which rules out a lot of seemingly good pocket carry choices, just wouldn't carry anything smaller than a 9mm.
I wouldn't try to "pocket carry" while jogging, I'd use a belly band holster with a Glock 26.
For true in the pocket carry I vote for an airweight J frame .38 but for jogging or outside exercise I'd go Glock 26 in an appropriate holster every time.
pm9
Kahr PM or CM 9.
The G26 is a nice little CCW, but is definitely NOT a pocket gun.
closer to pocket size, give the Ruger LC9 a try, if money is tight.
If price is no concern, the Sig P290 is a damn fine little 9mm.
Kel-Tec PF9 for pocket carry.
Any time it doesn't HAVE to be in your pocket, a G19/23 carries really, really well in a Crossbreed holster.

just picked up a no lock 442 for summer carry here in Houston.Normally carry a g19 but summer time, heat humidity and pocket cary equal

Agreed. South Florida in the summer is a hot, muggy, steamy place. Pocket carry with my 340PD makes it MUCH better to stay armed at all times.
The gun left at home, is of no use. Carry what you can, and carry it always.
Walther PPS get my vote. I love mine.

Ive owned the P99, and regret selling it.
The PPS definately looks like a very solid choice for pocket carry.
How does it feel in the pocket?
I currently have a Ruger LC9, but am not a fan of the long squishy trigger on it at all. I shoot about 4 inches low at 7 yards with it. I keep holding out for a Glock pocket 9mm but Glock doesn't seem to have a market research person worth a sh*t that can get them in gear. I ran into the new Nano over the weekend at the gun show and it seems really nice, but the higher bore axis bothers me. Still for a BUG gun it seems ok.
My Wife carries the Ruger LCR and it has a very nice DA trigger and is very lightweight. The recoil is also very light for a pocket revolver.

I think j-frames are the best "pocket guns", especially the hammerless versions like the 442/642. The revolver's shape lends itself to easier draw than all but the smallest of autopistols.
I'd give the Kel-Tec Pf9 a look too for holster carry. They're fairly inexpensive and have a lifetime warranty.
I pocket carry a j frame. It is a better option than my Glock 27. It is smaller and is a decent round (38 spl +P).
There are very few pistols I am going to put in my pocket loaded and a Glock damn sure isn't one of them

, I have and like a Ruger LC9.
I voted for the PPS. Mine has been uber accurate and reliable for two years.
Devours any ammo I feed it –– I've put an assortment of fmj and jhp ammo through it with zero failures.
At this point, 2000 rds. down range with zero problems.
Good luck OP.
Sorry, double tap.

I vote for an appropriate holster and continuing carrying the G26. I have never been able to get any of the "pocket pistols" I have used to be reliable, and I know that my G26 will go bang everytime I pull the trigger, plus I can hit with it and it keeps my manual of arms consistent with my G17.
For deeper concealment, grab a Vanguard 2 when it comes out. I know I will be.
I'd consider a Ruger LC9. I handled one the other day and really liked it, and it disappeared into my pocket very well. I also looked at the 938 and l liked it, though I personally liked the way the Ruger felt more. I haven't seen a Beretta Nano yet, but I'm also considering it.

You guys carrying a Ruger LC9 in your pocket must be some very large men. I carry an LCP in my front pocket all the time but an LC9 is much larger, too large to fit comfortably w/o printing. I'm looking for a 9mm CCW autoloader that is very close to the same dimensions as an LCP. and will fit comfortably in a front jean pocket w/o printing like crazy. I've tried carrying my wife's S&W 637 but realistically,it's too large. Have looked at the Sig 938's but not sure I want to carry a cocked & locked SA auto pistol in my pocket. Anyone have a Sig 290 and if so,what's your opinion on it?
I'd love to own a Boberg XR9 but don't know that much about them.

It is too big to carry in the pocket of the pants (it does work well in a IWB like at MTAC).
Even a gun as small as a PF-9 or LC-9 is really pushing the limits of pocket carry, they work well in a jacket pocket, but they make that one side dip real bad.

Have you tried the Kahr PM-9? I know a couple guys that pocket carry them. Definitely bigger than an LCP but not by a whole lot.
I own and carry the PPS too and while I do like it, it is no more of a pocket carry gun then the G26 is IMO. Great IWB gun though
Kahr PM9 or CM9. I've been pocket carrying a PM9 for years. I love it.
I carry in a Nemesis pocket holster.
Sam
Another vote here for the PM9,
small, light, and capable of being very accurate.
I would go with a Ruger LCP. If you are going to buy a pocket pistol, buy one that will discreetly fit in your pocket. I have found the LCP, to be an affordable, compact, reliable and most of all truly concealable firearm.
