 Best/Smallest 9mm CC Pistol

I was set on getting an LCP or TCP but the more I think about it and look at prices of ammo I would rather get a 9mm. This is just going to be a back up gun to carry when I don't have my G27. I want something smaller and slimmer than my G27. My brother has a Keltec PF9 and its not too bad but Im not crazy about it. What about the LC9? Any smaller recommendations? Thanks

LC9 won't fire without a mag. Get the LCP, ammo cost isn't an issue since you won't be plinking steel with it and taking it to classes. Avoid the Kimber solo like the plague, that was an expensive mistake.

I have a friend who owns the Kel-Tec PF-9. It's REALLY small. It is also pretty brutal in the recoil department. I did not enjoy shooting it at all. I think it would be fine for CCW but I wouldn't want to train with it, therefore I wouldn't want to carry it.

Those new SIG P938s look very appealing.

If I go the pocket pistol route Im leaning toward the TCP. The PF9 is probably the smallest 9mm Ive seen/shot Im just not impressed.

The shield is taller than his G27. Sounds like the OP wants a Kahr PM9/CM9

Agreed. I personally like the Keltec P11 (a lot of firepower in a tiny package), but the Kahr is certainly more "refined".

Not sure if anyone knows if this is the best considering it's a new model that's been out for only a week now. I held one at my LGS and wasn't all that impressed with it's size or terrible trigger that makes a Glock trigger feel like a tuned masterpiece.

I have a TCP in a desantis nemesis pocket holster and it disappears in pocket. My TCP shoots well for what it is.

Pretty fond of the Rohrbaugh R9s myself, but it's not cheap.

Khar PM9 or maybe CM9

I just bought the CW9 last weekend and I love it....then S&W had to come out with that damned Shield the next week
The Shield would also be a good option but holsters will be hard to find for a short while but I think that pistol will be a huge hit!

If you go with the Ruger LC9. You'll have to do something about the trigger pull distance, by the time it fires you'll already be shot by the bad guy.

LOL

I'm 6' 4" with long skinny fingers and I have no trouble with the Ruger trigger, but I see what you mean.

I Like the de-horned smoothed shape of the LC9, but I'm a big fan of the M&P and was impressed with it at the NRA show Friday.

.....plus it comes in .40 cal ( unlike the Ruger.)

I'm partial to my G27. I also have a Kahr PM9 that has never missed a shot.

I'm gonna say Kahr PM9. I've got one that has never hiccuped and it disappears in a pocket or IWB.

shield is nice, held one, might be too big/heavy for pocket carry.

LC9=junk trigger

PF9= light and pocketable, but cross your fingers to get a good one, if not Kel-Tec will make it right

I have no trouble with the LC9 trigger, I just can't hit the broad-side of a barn with it. I've only had it to the range twice though and need more trigger time with it.

It breaks so far back against the frame that I couldn't shoot it with my finger tip, had to use middle of my finger

This.

Smallest would be the Diamondback DB9, but the QC is still pretty hit and miss so far, and they're hard to grip properly to not limp-wrist

Just picked it up today and you won't believe the trigger on this thing. I think they stole it from the Walther PPQ to be honest it's that good.

I carry a PF9 and you are correct. It recoils more than my USP .45. Having said that, you get used to it and the heavy trigger over time and it winds up not being so bad. My main complaints right now with the PF9 is that it is obviously a much cheaper pistol. Mine is in at Kel Tec right now to correct failures to eject. I lost the extractor on my first trip to the range and a new extractor didn't help. There are other parts of the pistol that I don't like the design of also. However, as long as they can fix it so it functions properly I'll be happy with it because I need a very small pistol to EDC. The PF9 is either a gun folks will love or hate.

To the point of the original post:
For higher quality stuff I only have experience with the G26, Walther PPS, and Kahr PM9. The G26 is too wide for me to EDC and the PPS is too tall. The PM9 is too expensive but I could see packing the CM9 every day. I think I'd probably go with the G26; however, simply because it is a great gun at a reasonable price and you can back up your primary mag with higher cap mags. That's just my opinion.

Thanks for all the input. I think Ill check out the Kahr. Its going to be hard to beat the size and price of a TCP. I will carry my G27 most of the time, this is just for when I dont want to "carry a gun". #1 rule to winning a gunfight is have a gun. Thats my reasoning for buying one so small, so I never have an excuse not to carry.

I have no problem with recoil generally, and I can't imagine that being fun to shoot.

My wife got an LC9 and I put a CTC laser on it for her. I hate the trigger, and i don't like the mag disconnect. But, it's not my gun. She loves it and can shoot it extremely well. In all of the range time she has spent with it there has never even been a hiccup. I wouldn't hesitate to depend on it. If there was a correction for the trigger I'd get one for myself.
