I'm new to Para and considering picking up a used P12-45. It is an older model that does not have the power extractor. Any thoughts on this gun...it will be a CCW/Off-duty only gun, so match accuracy is not required, just minute of man at 25 yards and closer.
Secondly, where can one find magazines for this thing? If I get the one I'm looking at, it only comes with one 10-rd mag.
Thanks!
I have a P13-45 and love it. It is an older model with out the power extractor but works just fine. 1000 rounds with no malfunctions beyond mag issues(10 rounders, high caps work fine).
Look for after market mag sources. I picked up my factory 13rounders at a gun show. Just test them before using them.
Being a 1911 based model it is good for customizing for carry. With mine I just changed the rear sight to a novak drop in and put a bevertail safety(it had the old style).
Mine keeps all the rounds in an eight inch circle at 25 yards so that is good enough for me.
I bought my P12 new in 1995. The original, with alloy frame. Has about 7,000 rounds through it, can be a little finicky on ammo. In my last training class I had a bunch of stoppages with hydrashoks so it was removed from my carry list until I figure out if something is wrong.
It was my main carry gun for six years, so it saw a lot of abuse.
Very accurate, very compact package for 12+1, I also put in a beavertail safety- the original was a killer. It's a bit muzzle-flippy, so double taps and rapid fire took a lot of practice.
My sight had been knocked a bit, so I was shooting to the left, but I still managed this rapid-fire grouping with two mags:
