I was reading last months article on GI Expert and noticed that they had some issues with the finish wearing on the Gi Expert they reviewed. I'm seriously considering one of these and wanted to know if anyone else has seen this issue of the finish wearing off fairly quickly.
The finish does wear pretty quickly. I carry mine in a Supertuck and after just a couple of draws/reholsterings I could see the finish starting to wear in a few places. Other than the finish I'm very happy with the pistol though! I'd put it up performance wise against my Springer any day.

Do you think this is a QC issue or just the nature of the finish? I really like this gun and want to buy one real bad but not if I'm going to have to have it refinished within the first year I own it.
Why worry about refinishing it? If you bought it for go and not for show just take care of it. Bling guns belong in the safe between range trips. A good work gun just needs to be given a little tlc once in a while. Bling/show doesn't make them better shooters.

My guns are far from bling. I just don't want a product that is going to have the finish wear off after riding in a holster a few times. The technology is there for decent finishes and there are other 1911's without this issue, I'm just weighing my options.
The finish wore off my P14 where my hand touches it. (It actually impresses newbies: I can say I've got so much trigger time with the gun I wore the finish off

) Two of my three Paras are stainless, and any future Paras will be as well. The black finish is cheesy.

it's not a QC issue. it's just a crap ass finish. wore off on one corner of my gi expert so far (were it rubs the plastic cast that it comes in). keep it in a foam case now.
i hear para will refinish it for free, but i don't want the same finish put back on. if it gets bad, i'll just have something nice put on, maybe hard chrome or black t
The finish is wearing on mine too. But I don't give a shit about finish. I don't even carry mine a holster. I shoot the fuck out of it! That's how my finish is wearing. Fire, clean, fire, clean... In that order.
