A good source of WW II P-08 Luger
Anyone know place I can get a WW II vintage Luger at reasonable price? I am just looking for a decent shooter with reasonable finish and matching numbers. Don't know if such creature exists anymore.
I bought mine at the local gun shop, it was a trade-in. Shooters now go for $500 or so. Deals might be found but I have no real suggestions on finding them.
I just recently acquired my second one, a WW2 bring-back w/o importers marks.
thanks, guys. Kinda pricey these day. I saw a WW I 1916 vintage refinished with all matching numbers for $750. It's ALMOST worth the price.

Ah, yes.
BUT you WILL be the only one shooting one at the range, most likely. I used my Luger to qualify with for my CCL. Pretty funny at the time.
SOG has ones for $600 plus, and P-38's for $500 plus. I am thinking about it for the Lugar. I have wanted one forever.

Trust me, it's worth it for those of us who think like that! Perhaps the only bit of History I can purchase, or at least afford to.
I picked up one. It is Sweeeet....
all matching numbers, they were imported by c.a.i.
I would post a picture but don't know how...

Thanks SS109. I ordered one from SOG yesterday, and should be here Monday. I asked for a hand-pick CYQ (I believe it's a Mauser). I might order a K-98 to match.
If anyone's interested in a P-38, here's a good place to go
www.fgsinc.8m.com/. I ordered my first P-08 and P-38 from them before. Good price on P-38 and nice people, too.
AS A LONG TIME LUGER COLLECTOR (50 OF THEM) I ADVISE THAT IF YOU WANT TO SHOOT THESE A $500. OR LESS ONE IS PERFECT. I WOULD SUGGEST CHECKING THE BARREL FOR SURE AND MAKE SURE YOU GET SOME NEW MAGS. TWO THINGS WILL BRING A LUGER TO A HALT.......WEAK MAG SPRINGS AND A DIRTY ACTION.
LUGERS ARE BUILT WITH STRICT TOLERANCES THAT MAKE IT NOT A GOOD COMBAT GUN IN THE FIELD. FOR ALL OUT SHOOTING FUN AND NOSTALGIA IT IS KING.
I SHOOT THE 8 INCH ARTILLERY MODEL WITH FINE TUNE SIGHTS AND A WOOD STOCK, ALL LEGAL UNDER ATF GUIDELINES..........THIS PIECE CAME WITH A 32 ROUND TROMMEL MAG AND MAKES A REAL HIT AT THE RANGE...........NOT TO MENTION AT 25 YDS I AM THE ONLY TARGET OUT THAT FAR HITTING ON THE BLACK 9 RING.
IF I CAN BE OF HELP ON THESE LUGERS EITHER EMAIL ME DIRECT AT JDSELTZER@AOL.COM WITH QUESTIONS OR POST IT ON THE FORUM OR BOTH.

Thanks for all the helps. I ordered one from SOG two weeks ago, but there seems to be some paperwork problem and HOPEFULLY it will ship Monday. I asked for a BYF to match the P-38 I got.
I've got a DWM made in 1911 police rework sitting in my safe with all matching #'s...even one mag # matches the gun....I dunno if I'm gonna keep it yet or put it on Gunbroker.

Wouldn't this be one of those "why did I sell that?" moments?
Welcome back!

Yea probably.

I bought it a year ago for $500....I'll post some pics in a few hours, came with the holster, tool, original mag and a spare mag.
The Luger arrived today at my dealer today from SOG. After waiting 3 weeks to get all the paperwork crap sorted out, here's what I got:
1936 BYF, aftermarket plastic grips with straight verticle line pattern, mismatch number with what appears to be parkerized (!) square piece on the left side, prominently electric-pencilled CAI importer mark on the left side of the receiver, with new serial number in LARGE print, magazine with electric-pencilled serial number and chipped paint.
Basically, it's as worthless as a sporterized Mauser with all markings grinded off. I will return it first thing Monday. God what a piece of crap.

ETA: And I paid $25 for a handpick.
SOG has been known to be, shall we say, less than perfect?

I'd recommend trying to find one thru Gun List or a gun show. Good luck!

Bummer. I really wanted to buy one from SOG.
I think I will look somewhere else.
