Are all 1911 9mm mags universal?
Just picked up a 1911 single stack 9mm and I am looking at buying some more mags. Do I have to stick with the specific brand I have or will say colt or kimber mags fit my Para?
They're universal in theory, though in reality some tend to work better than others.
ok whats the goin rate for used 1911 9mm mags?

Exactly, no more or less so than .45 mags.

9mm 1911 mags range from ten to fifty dollars a piece. Gotta know whats for sale before you can know if the price is right.
I have had great results with the Wilson ETM mags in my SA and STI 9mms.
look for
metalform 9 or 10 round magazines
Wilson 9mm mags
Tripp 10 round magazines
Kimber 9 round Springfield Armory 9 round magazines work well.
These are for a full size grip.
Quality is not cheap so expect to pay a little more, esp if you want 10 round 9mm magazines over 9 round ones.
As others said, yes they are generally universal like for 45. I have had great luck with Tripp, Wilson, and Checkmate.
If you only want/need 9 rounds, I suggest the Checkmates.
I've used Mec-Gar, Colt and Springfield 9-rounders with good results. These tend to be around $20 or so. The Wilson and Tripp 10-rounders are over $30.
I have a STI Spartan 9mm, I purchased new 7 metalform magazines. The are crap! I bought it form a second party so I do not have an option of returniong them to a store. Metalform has not responed to my email inquiries. Stay away from thei mags. I am using Wilson Combat Elite now. They work fine. I would try to avoid pbuying something that you cannot slide into your gun to make sure the fit is right.
Just my 2 cents

I have had the welded base plates break off of two Metalform 9mm magazines. One was during a match. Never again.

No, they're not. Each magazine has slightly different dimensions, and the followers are all different designs. Likewise, each company's 9 mm 1911 (from Wilson, to S&W to Springfield) possesses different feed ramp angles (most use a barrel with an integrated feed ramp) and the magazines will sit at different heights within the frame.
What model/brand did you purchase?
i have been using checkmate mags in mine and they all have worked flawless
I like mec-gar or metalform..........I usually upgrade the springs with Wolff extra power.....I have one Wilson ETM that would only work in one of my 1911 9's it works fine....but in two of the other pistols it would not work at all......
I'm pretty sure that the Springfield EMP uses proprietary mags, as does (obviously) the Para Hawg 9.
ETA: If you're running something that takes "standard" 1911 9mm magazines, check out
Greg Cote LLC. I've purchased from him several times, and he tends to have excellent prices and ships promptly.
