Anybody have a Ruger SR22?
I noticed Rugers new SR22 pistol, and was wondering if it is any better than a Walther P22 or Sig Mosquito? The Walther and Sig do not have very good reputations for durability or reliability.
It seems like a nice range toy/plinker to me.
Does anybody have a review on one yet?
Gunblast.com
Don't know if any have actually hit the street yet.

They are available. Go to RugerForum.com.
Looks good from what I have read / seen.
I like that it is an aluminum slide. Hopefully its a machined aluminum and not cast. Should fair better than the zinc ones on the P22 and Mosquito.
Nice price too, looks like low 300's.
Just got one on GunBroker.com for 3 bills. It should be here next week at the latest. I'll throw up a pic when it arrives.
I can't wait for the threaded barrel to be available....
Picked one up at my LGS this morning. The only one they had, and they'd just gotten it in yesterday.

Handled one at the shop today. It felt really nice, solid and built better than the P22. The one I checked out came with two grips and two mags. The trigger pull was a bit heavy and not even close to the smooth 22/45 trigger. Overall it seems like a nice pistol, I may have to add it to the collection.
I just purchased one. Hope to take it to the range in the morning will try to post pics.
Took it to the range today. Forgot my camera at home. Took a bulk box 550 Winchester hollow points from Dicks. Shot all 550. Had one failure to chamber in the second mag fired. The last two mags I fired at the end of the session each had a failure to chamber. I never lubed it just pulled it from the box and fired. One of my friends brought some Rem golden bullets it ate those with out a hitch. The Rems are known to have problems in some semi autos. I think it will be a keeper. I also got a Don Hume IWB holster for it that fits real nice.
Edited to use spellcheck
Aluminum slide per Ruger, so a thousand way than P-22 or Mosqito.
Before I purchased the SR22, I sent Ruger an inquiry wanting to know about availability of a threaded barrel. Since then, I got a look a the owner's manual and it clearly states on page 25 that there is a threaded barrel available. As of this morning, a Ruger CSR sent me an answer to my query and informed me that no such animal exists and there are no plans for such.
Once again, no one seems able to provide a straight answer. I am going to call them today and find out which is the right answer.
ETA:
I finally got through to a Ruger CSR & after a longish wait for her to talk to her supervisor, she came back and told me that there will be a threaded barrel available, very soon, that I should check back next week for a status update. I did mention that this pistol is positioned to compete heads up against Walther P22s, Sig Mosquitos, GSG 1911-22s, & Chiappa Pumas, all of which come from the factory already threaded (though they most all need an adapter).
Apparently this has already become a really hot issue because the CSR I spoke with sounded rather surprised and commented that they are getting A LOT of calls on this issue.
Picked one up at the gun show this weekend. $295
Shot 200 rounds through it with no hiccups.
Another fun plinker.

how does it fair against say a buckmark?
Would a company like Adco be able to thread it and add an extension so a suppressor could be used?
Handled one today, $295 at the local shop, I really want it but I also see a suppressor in my future.
Thanks

There will be factory threaded barrels soon.
I'm watching here as well as RimfireCentral for some range reports when people start getting some range time on these SR's
I can't wait until mine comes in.
Yea I picked mine up yesterday, Got a little range time in today. Its a Ruger, it works fine. Its a lot like the walther p22, just tons better. Go ahead and pick one up and you will love it...

You do need to clean it out of the box...I bought one last week. I have not shot it yet, but when I took it apart, it had some pretty heavy grease inside the slide and on the slide rails.

Absolutely....mine was full of goop when I took it apart!.
put 555 rounds through mine. sometimes it fails to strip off the second round in the magazine, did it probably 8 times. shoots good though. also, one of my magazines wont lock the slide back when empty. Ive got some weird wear of the slide where it rides along the rail, not sure if its normal. will post pics when i get back home, i really like it i hope it doesnt have to make a trip back to ruger. got it for 295 locally. nice gun
I want one so bad!
Keep up the range reports!

Your wear is on the outer edge of the slide so it could not be from anything internal. maybe you were pushing up on slide release when firing ? Also did you check to see your barrel was tight before taking it out the first time ?
I picked up a SR-22 this past weekend for $319. I cleaned it out good before I shot it. The barrel was tight. I fired 100 rounds without a single problem. The trigger is not as good as my MKIIIs. But not awful either. I took it out the next day and the accuracy was lacking compared to the first day. So I took the slide off and the barrel had come loose. Now I need something to tighten it up. None of my Allen wrenches fit. Despite the loose barrel I am quite happy with it. A fun toy !!! Oh........I only used Federal Bulk pack ammo.
Didn't see this posted. Here's a pretty decent review
