Anyone tried a Ruger MK1 in a Luger holster?

I picked up a pre-MKI Ruger Standard with 5.5" barrel the other day and like the flap style holsters. Considering the similar shapes I was wondering how well a Luger holster would work for these. I'm sure they'll "fit", assuming the right barrel length, but how well? Of course, if there were no Lugers with 5.5-6" barrels it wouldn't work anyway. Just looking for someone's prior experience before I buy the holster.

It should work fine, I'll try it in a bit. Lugers and their holsters came in 3.5, 4, 6 and 8" barrel lengths.

Thanks. One more question-I see new replacement magazines are around for $21.95 from Sportsman's Guide. Assuming I can find one, what's a fair amount to plan on paying for an original? I do have a bid on one on ebay but I'm sure it will get cancelled by them before it ends.

I see them at gun shows for that or less.

what's the going price for a MKII these days. I may have the opportunity to pick one up and I was thinking $150 but am I lowballing? It appears to be in about 95% condition.

I never see them for sale-everyone's keeping their MKII's because they hate the lawyer-mandated features of the MKIII's. Depending on exactly which model of MKII you're looking at, you're either being fair on the bottom end or insulting at the top end(like with a Government Target model-going as high as $500 in my area). Assuming a common version with no additional cost options I'd call $150 at the lower end of fair. I see then in local shops slightly over $200 like my Standars, so in most cases the shops paid $100-$125. $150 would be meeting halfway between what a shop would give for the gun and what the same shop would try to sell it for. Offer $150 but don't be disappointed if their bottom dollar is $150-$200.

In a nutshell, the Ruger MK1-3 doesn't really fit the Lugar holster. The Lahti holster works great, on the other hand.
