FN website is useless. Do they make a .45 FNX or is the .45 only available in the FNP?

The FNP 45 USG is the equivalent of an FNX but larger, just a different name. The controls are the same as the FNX series (Ambi safety, de-cocker, magazine release etc).

I have held the FNP. It's a brick. So is the Glock 21. I like the USP 45 but the pistol and mags are too expensive. I have been looking for a decent capacity 45 that fits my hand and isn't a 1911. Maybe I should stick with a 9mm FNX.

I have been hearing about the FNS. What is different about it from the FNX?

FNS is striker fired like a glock.

The XD or XDM in 45 feels much better in my hand as does the M&P but it only holds ten rounds. You might also look at the gen 4 Glock 21 as well

I spoke to an FN rep at SHOT, FNP 45 is being taken out of the product line. A re engineered version with a new grip is coming soon, the FNX 45, still being offered in standard and tactical flavors. Also FNS 45 apparently on the way, but even the FN rep sounded skeptical.

I don't suppose they gave you any idea when the re-engineered version would be coming out did they? Any other details you could give us would be greatly appreciated.

is this due to the unsupported chamber issues and the ammo complication issues?

They told me the FNX 45 is still probably 6 months out, they didn't elaborate on any technical issues. In related news, all silencer co .578x28 pistons are the gen2 version that fix's the FNP45 problem.

I am now planning to visit FNH at the NRA show in St. Lewis in April. I plan on dropping a bulged case in their hands that is from my FNP 45 Tactical.
I want to hear their response face to face.

A striker fired FN is not going to fix the unsupported chamber issues of the FNP, and I will not purchase another a Glock copy.
I like exposed hammers.

I have been researching this all night and everything i see is TBH - 6 months out.

All of the reliability issues with the FNP (although many places say they have been fixed) worry me. I use Federal ammo and WWB most of the time. If an FNP can't use WWB very well then that sucks for me and I hope the FNX runs it 100% and when sub 230 grain.

the WWB issue was with certain magazines and they redesigned the magazines. Of course I don't have thousands and thousands of rounds through mine, I do beleive I'm up to about 1400 in my FNP-45 Tactical and only had one stoppage, on the last round of a 45 round magazine dump(last shell ejected but was stuck in ejection port parallel to the barrel). I've run mixes of WWB, and FC through mine. Mine has the original magazines as well. It seems people are overstating these problems. I've shot quite a few boxes of +P ammunition and all brass was fine along with the firearm...

No overstatement. I never had WWB problems till FN sent me the "new" mags to fix my hollow point feeding problem. Which they did not. But now I do have
troubles with WWB.
Between the trigger pin, JHP issues and WWB problems.....But it's the best featured and most accurate of my .45's. It's still a turd.
At least mine is. I hope the new tactical's grip accommodates a more forgiving to cartrage overall length magazine.

Was this with an FNP-45 Tactical or an FNP-45 USG? what JHPs did you have feeding issues with? The new magazine bodies are around .010" longer on the ID to accomodate over length rounds. 1.305" shouldn't be any issues with any .45ACP round.

FNP-45 Tactical. Black. Fired case date: 11/03/10. 230 grain Hornaday XTP-HP is the bullet that jams. I have fired this bullet from Fiocchi and Hornaday
factory boxes. Bob A. Sent me new mags. I realize these handguns are very nice and well liked. But that doesn't change the fact there are some turds out there.
I have one and you don't. Wanna trade?

Please excuse my posts. I'm now using iPad and it makes navigating in text difficult. Does anyone have internal dimensions for the Tactical magazines?
This .010 Bigger thing is the first I heard. It would be nice if somebody said they went from: xxxx. Dimension inside to:xxxx. Inside. Then I could confirm
I have new improved magazines. Thanks.

Gotcha. Certainly not disagreeing that there can be turds, just trying to rule out all possibilities.. Are the rounds jamming up in the magazine, or are they simply nose diving into the feed ramp? Possible your feed ramp and chamber received a poor polishing job. Have you talked to FN customer service about sending the firearm in for them to look at?

I measured my original mags that were dated 3/18/2010 to have an ID in the center of the mag lips to be 1.290-1.295". The 1.305" figure came from someone on FNFforum who received the "new" magazines from Bob A in Novemeber time frame of 2010.

I get the same dimensions as you Buffman. Either I have old magazines, I probably sent in good ones! Ha ha. Or there is no dimension change
and that other guy was measuring the bottom of magazine where I do get around 1.305 ish.

No he was measuing the top of the magazine between the feed lips.

The unsupported chamber is not so much an issue as it is a preference. These guns are not blowing out on factory ammo.

I agree a fully supported chamber would be nice, but I don't think that they are going to address it as it does not affect function.

Also agree on the mag issues. But let's face it. This is not a new gun. It's a marketing consolidation. The FNP45 for all practical purposes was an FNX45. Now that the FNP9/40 are history, and the FNS is out, it only makes sense to consolidate the names.

There are instances where factory ammo has bulged where the feed ramp is, and some cases where the factory ammo has breached and KBed the FNP45T, including mine.

I'm sorry and surprised to hear that.

I got out of my FNP45, but still follow them as I really did enjoy it. That's the first KB I've heard of in them. The bulging brass, while unfortunate still points to he ammo in my opinion though. Factory 45 shouldn't do that.
