Can you fire a 12 gauge flare gun round out of a 12 gauge shotgun? Has any one tried this?
I have seen 12 ga flares fired from a shotgun. I am scared to do it though. I can't stop thinking of what would happen if the burning flare didn't make it out the muzzel.
ETA: The new subcaliber HP 12 ga flares wouldn't touch the bore. Mine aren't expired yet. Once the expire for boating I might try it.

Nothing happens. The barrel gets real hot, the finish in that area 'may' become discolored.
wow thanks for all the feed back! I'm now tempted to buy some boating flares for testing In my mossberg 590, if everything works out i think it could be a useful tool in my shotgun load out!
