ATI Mag extension for Winchester 1200? Are they okay?
Long story short, the mag tube's are too short on the Winchesters. I really don't like the way my 1200 looks with a 22" barrel, and a 12.25" tube. I mean the tube on my 870 is 15.25" and looks great. Anyways, does anyone have an ATI plastic tube? How are they, besides being plastic? I figure there only $24shipped compared to a steel one at $60+ I'd buy a used one but haven't seen one for sell in a while.
No one has one?
My experience in seeing these used by other shooters is that they don't stand up under any real use.
They also have quality control problems with things like the steel coupling not being properly bonded to the plastic tube and coming off.
My advice: bite the bullet and buy a Choate extension. It's top quality, comes as a complete kit including a heavy-duty follower and the all-important barrel clamp with sling swivels, and will last forever.
You can buy them direct from Choate or from Brownell's and Midway.
You get exactly what you pay for. If this is for a defense gun, you'd be insane to trust the plastic unit.
Thanks, I will most likely just pass then.
Pro Mag makes an extension for the 1200, +2, for not much more then the ATI you might want to look into, it is aluminum...
