Doug Yenshaw has Ruger 10/22 Modifications & Reliability eBook and Ruger 10/22 Performance Modifications and Enhansements bench book. They can be found on ebay or http://easy1022modifications.com/ or http://www.theworks1022.com/ .

I don't know anything about the author or the books. Anyone have an opinion? Are these any good?

I just got my 1st 10/22. I would like to do some basic modifications like installing an auto bolt release and extended mag release. I'm not sure where to get started. There are so many parts out there for the 10/22. I haven't done much gunsmithing but I have put together an AR15 before.

thanks

I can't offer any information about the ebooks but I would read all of these posts (http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=220) before I bought information about 10/22 mods.

Most of these are very easy to do and will net you a gun that is much better for just a few dollars. You might even have all of the tools and items needed. Don't be scared to take a file to your bolt or sandpaper to your trigger group. You will be very happy you did!
