 Is Helwan 9mm a C&R?

On page 17 of the ATF's C&R list (2007 revision) I see a line reading "Beretta, M 1951 pistol Israeli contract, caliber 9mm parabellum", but I can find no mention of the Egyptian made Helwan version.

Thank you in advance,
Eric

It doesn't seem to be specifically listed. You'd have to prove it's older than 50, and from what I've heard that isn't easy to do with these.

Beretta 951 is C&R as is the Iraq Tariq.
I think for Helwan to be C&R it would have to be military/police issued surplus, not one of the commercial versions.

Helwans were made from the early 1960's up through the 1970's, so unless they are on the list, they would not be a C&R.

It doesn't need to be military or police if it is over 50 years old... Unless the commercial versions are all newer than that, it is possible some commercial guns are C&R, but as has been previously stated, you'd need to be able to prove it, and unless there is a list that references serial numbers to production years or something that might be difficult.

Anything made on this date or before in 1962 or older is now C&R... Time flies. I can't find anything on the Helwan more specific than "early 1960s" so I don't know if any of them are C&R eligible yet or not.

I have a guy who wants to buy my Helwan, if I can ship it to him as a C&R. He swears the ATF told him, in one of their infamous letters, it was a C&R and the Israeli verbiage in the latest C&R book is a misprint and that the previous edition listed an Egyptian version.

Regardless, what is printed in the current book is the letter of the Law you must follow to avoid complications at a later date.
Past and previous publications are considered to be superceded.
