 Selling C&R FTF requirements

I've bought several C&R rifles through the mail but now I'm looking to sell one or two of them. If I sell one FTF what are the requirements and what information I need to record in my book? Name, address, DOB, D/L # enough? Should I also do a signed bill of sale?

Sorry this is probably a noob question but I just want to be sure. Thanks in advance for the help.

It'll be the first time, I'm just trying to be sure and look for any other input. Especially if the purchaser in a not a C&R license holder.

And a signature. Bill of sale if your state is funny about that sort of thing.

You have to sell at your listed address on your 03 FFL.
You can't transfer out of the trunk of your car.......

The paperwork usually comes several days before or after you actually get the lic. Dont worry just yet about not having paperwork.

I gotta throw my 2 cents in here, I don't have a C&R, so I don't know, but the OP asked a fair question. Even if he did read the regs cover to cover twice, he is asking for any insight that someone with more expirience might have. Why do people have to be such jackasses?

Because this is AR15.com that is why. Way too many kids on here that think they know everything. Just ask them.

Becuase if you have a Curio and Relics license you should read up on the regs that come with it and know them. Especially something as simple as logging out rifles

I've actually done all of my FTF sales of C&R's at my house, but for an 03 I'm pretty sure it is OK to do so long as the non-FFL holding person you are selling too is a resident of the same state as you (I need to refresh myself on the regs myself). For non-FFL out of staters you have to sell to on your premises or send the firearm to an FFL in the state they are a resident of for them to pick it up. The 'sell at your premises' rule seems a little unnecessary in most cases for a C&R and I doubt you'd get in trouble for it, but I wouldn't go to another state and start trying to sell a bunch of C&R guns to walk ins from a table at a gun show either. Also, in the case that the firearm turns up in a crime it would probably be best for you that any sales of your firearms were done as strictly legal as possible. I always ship the firearms I sell to an FFL or sell them FTF at the address on my C&R (which I only do with friends).

Only if selling to a non-licensee from a state other than your own.

Actually, yes you can, unless you are barred from doing so by state or local statute.

I have to agree with ARtraffic. It really depends on your state!

In PA I can sell a long gun to anyone with ID. Just have to log it in my book if I bought it with the C&R license. If it was a Remington 700 it doesn't matter. But a Pistol to Non-CR or a CR holder has to be done at the Sheriff's dept or at a FFL01. So really depends on the state statutes and Regulations.

Yeah, all of my C&R sales have been to residents of WV, and here you can sell long gun, or handguns FTF with no problems to a WV resident.

By my reading you are supposed to log out any C&R eligible firearm from your bound book whether you bought it under your C&R or not just like you have to log in any C&R eligible firearm you buy, even if you buy it on a 4473 from an FFL01 dealer or through a FTF private sale. What I've been told a person should do is if they are selling a C&R eligible firearm that is not currently in their bound book that they log it into their bound book as being aquired "from my collection" with all of your info and then log it back out again with the buyer's info. If someone else reads things differently or has heard something different, I'd love to hear the details.

FWIW, here in Texas we can sell handguns FTF to other (non-barred) TX residents without going through an FFL01 or Sheriff, whether they have a C&R or not. I assume that the restriction in PA is for everyone, not just C&R licensees. I'm surprised that two C&R licensees in PA can't transfer a handgun between each other without an FFL01 or Sheriff... but I guess PA is a light blue state.
