Has anyone with a Sep pending date been approved for a F1 or F4?

That is the question

I've been pending since 6 Sep. I have other NFA items and understand the waiting, but would like to see if anyone has been approved with a Sep pending date.

Nope. They are taking right about six months. I had a July pending date that was approved the last week of Dec.

Pending since September 14 on a Form 1. I was quoted 6 months last time I called, which was last week.

I mailed one in on or about August 6th or 7th. I have never called to check the status, so I don't know when it went pending.

When did you mail it in?

Sent in july, pending in august, got it in the mail this past week with an error letter, sent it back priority so ill probably get it in three more weeks.

I've usually gotten it back with in a week of sending back corrected forms.

I've never had to correct one so I am unfamiliar with that process.

I hope I have a September pending date, I have never called to check, trying to forget about it. My form 4 arrived on the 6th of September, hopefully it went pending by the end of the month. Looking at NFA Tracker the approvals seem to be starting for forms that went pending in August, hopefully not too much longer.

Sent F1 in Nov, 2011.
Thought it would take 2-3 months. So I called, and they said expect April, 2012.
I guess a lot of Forms to be processed.

I mailed a Form 1 in August, it went pending in September. I expect to get it back next month.

I mailed another Form 1 this past week. I figure I'll see it back sometime in July or August.

September 6th pending here. The average for my examiner (Lamberger) in the last six months is 148 days according to NFA Tracker.

That puts my approval right around Feb 1.

I will not cry if it's sooner than that...

EDIT:

I checked on Sunday and got that 148 day average; checking just a moment ago yielded a 146 day average. Perhaps they're done transitioning from by-name to by-region and picking up steam.

Feltner's averaging 143 days, from pending to approved, so I should be getting pretty close.
Sure seems like a long time to wait for just a little shotgun with a $5 tax.

Very Interesting , on nfa tracker before the shake up, times
Were all over the place ,now it seems all examiners
Are approving all at the same speed ,Slow and getting slower.
2 pending since sept. Even my last with ferris was quicker
Than now!!!

I know that there is a process for checking the status of your applications, but cannot seem to find it right now. I am wanting tofind out the status of two, a suppressor app and an SBR app. Submitted them last summer and they cashed the check in July. How do I go about finding out the status?
Thanks

It looks like the ATF is just finishing up the pending's from August.
I had one pending Aug 15 and another pending Aug 26th.
Aug 15th was approved 1-12 ,Aug 26th was approved 1-19.
My buddy went pending Sept 7th and has not been approved yet. So I expect him to get his approval in the next 2 weeks or so.

I have a F4 pending since Sept 14th with Bowers.

His "past 6 months" blocks are blank on NFA tracker so I can only assume that either folks who got approved forms from him haven't been entering their info in enough numbers to trigger an average or no one has received an approved form with his name on it in 6 months time.

Kind of disconcerting as I really want to buy a pistol can in the next month but as folks have already said the wait times growing ever longer make me say "nah, I'd rather buy something else I can play with now".

These wait times are fucking ridiculous.

Yea I know the same old reasons, that the NFA process is not designed to be user friendly, that it's supposed to discourage you from doing it, you should have seen it years ago, blah, blah, blah.

Well you know what? I'm tired of waiting 6 months for something that I'm paying for, both the can and the stamp.

I have a SBR and a can waiting on approval. Luckily, the SBR is something that I'm doing, so it's sitting in the safe.

The can is another story. I do not like shelling out money and waiting 6 goddamn months for some bureaucrat to approve it.

My examiner has gone from an average of 88 days to 156 days. My first SBR took 87 days from pending, now I'm at 120 for the SBR and 109 for the can.

I have put it out of my mind for the most part, up until today, when I was looking for a receipt for a gun and came across my paperwork. Then I thought I would call.

It seems like the examiners took a page from a Montessori school, with the work at your own pace bullshit.

I would like to have a 22lr can, and maybe a can for my 12.5 AR.

However, I'm not sure if I will do another stamp anytime soon.

Not unless they streamline the process.

I feel the pain, so let me ask this question: say I call my Congress Critters and raise holy hell. I figure they'll just laugh in my face (or after they hang up at least).

Think if there was a avalanche of calls/letters anything would improve? Or would they take my form and put it back at the bottom of the pile to show me who's boss?

It's total bullshit. Seriously say you use a trust - what exactly is the process? It's like aback box where you $ and paperwork go in, I have no idea what they actually do, and then at some arbitrary time in the (too damned distant) future you act all happy you FINALLY Got what you paid for 6 months ago.

What a crock of shit.

I just typed this up and sent it off to my congresspeople. You're all free to use it.

Dear <Representative/Senator> <their name>,

In accordance with the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), amended by the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986, certain classes of firearms require approval from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) and the payment of a $200 tax in order to transfer ownership.

Regardless of this law's unconstitutionality in light of incorporation of the Second Amendment as a fundamental individual right in the case of McDonald v Chicago, there is a more immediate problem with its implementation.

The BATFE makes the approvals for transfer by hand, using a slow process designed to waste time and delay approval for as long as possible. In a time of instant background checks to purchase firearms, the BATFE has managed to craft a process that requires no less than six months to perform no more rigorous of a validation of a person's right to own merely a different type of firearm.

As it stands today, a citizen exercising their lawful right to own a firearm classified under the NFA must purchase the item paid in full, pay the BATFE $200 in taxes, send a package of paperwork requiring several hours to complete, and then wait six months for approval before they can take possession of their property.

These long wait times are the direct result of the BATFE's refusal to place more personnel in the role of NFA examiner to expedite the approval process.

I would like to ask for your support in pressuring acting BATFE director Bryan Jones to remedy these problems and expedite NFA approvals so law abiding citizens can take possession of their property in a reasonable time. Additionally, I would like to ask for your help in the future to repeal the unconstitutional National Firearms Act, either through supporting legislation or joining an amicus curiae when the NFA comes in front of the courts.

Thank you,

<my name>

All depends on the examiner. Dudash is mine and she's quick about mailing them out. My Form 1 was 5 months and a couple days pending (went pending 8/5, approved 1/9) but it was in my mailbox two days later. Some examiners are notorious for letting approved stamps sit on their desk for weeks before mailing.

I've had a few from Snook. Pre-July-changeover, she was not amongst the quickest to process but seemed to get it out fairly quickly.
The only odd thing I've ever had out of her was an approved F4 with NO stamp, just the SN# in its place like they put on a "certified" replacement copy.

Actually, the only one I know of (not that that's saying much) that was notorious for sitting on 'em was Shipman.

I would almost hesitate to contact anyone about the wait times. Being government, they'll raise the cost of a stamp to cover for new examiners and then never hire more examiners.

I sent my forms in back in October and I'm just trying to forget about it. We have to have patience with the government, although they don't have to have it with us.
