I have an AR lower I want to register to my trust through a form 1. I know I need the forms, check etc.,

Based on what I have read I engrave after approval so...
After I submit the forms and while waiting for them to come back, can I still use it as an AR pistol?

Any issues or concerns doing that or should I leave it as a bare stripped lower? I have my upper and have decided to go the SBR'D route I am just hopeful I don't have to wait 6-8 mo to shoot it.

Using it as a pistol until it is approved is fine. That is what most folks do to make sure it will function when it's approved.

I like to get mine engraved before I send off the forms. I do that to avoid the off chance of having the engraving messed up on the lower I register.

I also suggest getting it engraved before sending in the forms.

Or at least get it engraved while the forms are pending just so you don't have to send it off right after you get the approval.

there are no issues having it engraved as an SBR, using it as a PISTOL and not having stamps back. I have no intention of using it as an SBR prior to approval/stamps.

You could engrave "I LOVE TITTIES AND BEER!!" on your lower and no one would care.

Engraving does not an SBR make.

The only thing engraved on the lower is your trust name and city/state, nothing that says it is an SBR.

It is no problem to use it as a pistol before you get the stamps in hand. The engraving doesn't change it from a pistol to an SBR, it just lets you know it's done right before you send the Form 1 in.

With or without engraving a pistol is a Title I firearm and is fine to possess/shoot/get running right.

Thanks, I am used to seeing other stuff that says SBR by ... but I guess adding it to my trust I don't have to identify it like that.
