SBR in CT questions
Hello,
I have a tax stamp for my ACR to have it as an SBR. The question that I have is do I now have to comply to the assault weapons ban rules? For example, can I have a collapsible stock and a flash hider now? I have heard some yes and some no answers to this. I don't want to get in trouble!
Thank you for the info.
State law still rules.
You have to obey the features on that gun, If it's not banned by name.
(A) A semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following:
(i) A folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;
(iii) A bayonet mount;
(iv) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and
(v) A grenade launcher; or
Only other way out is to have an older receiver made before 1994
So on my SBR, I have a preban receiver so all the evil features are OK to have. For example, telescoping stock, flash hider etc . Stupid laws.
Thank you for the reply. I figured this was the answer!
There is no way around this, correct? ACR will never have a pre 1994 receiver as they started being made in 2010 I think.
Correct
A semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following
Choose 1 feature and have a nice day.....
2 features will land you a year in jail, if caught.
CT sucks.
Yea, CT sucks but I am stuck here for a while. Thank you again for the info!

Can;t you just use a bullet button and be good to go? The rules there are super gay and do nothing for crime, but I think that is a way you could get around them maybe? Bullet button removes the "removable magazine" thing.

I never noticed them for sale in CT. It would work to remove 1 feature, but if they bust you on it, it will get real expensive in court.
98% of the time people get busted on assault weapon issues is that somebody turns you in (ie: domestic/divorce with wife or girlfriend) or the owner gets stupid and draws attention to themself bump firing or rapid firing things like that.
Pain has this thread covered 100%
CA law has specific language in it that makes the bullet button a legal way to remove the "detachable magazine". CT law does not. Even if you have to use a tool of some sort to remove it, it's still detachable
Or at least that's MY opinion. The law has not been tested in court in that respect so all we really have is speculation.

that's pretty much what i go with, the CT "assault weapons ban" is so unbelievably vague and messed up it's almost funny. then you actually think about it and get frustrated at the stupidity of it.
in CA you can go to a state office and get a legal deffination and statement on said item, weather it's CA legal or not. in CT no such office exists so you have the general consensus of the internet forums like here, local gun shops, and your self to tell you what is good or not when it comes to the gray area which is about 75% of it.
to the OP, that is still a pretty cool gun even in CT as a post ban. you just need to make some friends in NH so you can put the side folder on it and a can.
OP what is the barell length of your SBR?
Reason I am asking is if it is less than 12" you may be running afoul of Ct law because Ct considers anything with < 12" barell as a pistol.Which then weight wise would run you afoul of the Ct AWB.
