They are good tubes. Gen2. The very best DEP tubes are about the same level of performance as Gen III Omni IV.
However, most are about Gen III Omni II/III level of performance.
Resolution will vary depending on what you purchase - From 72 lp/mm right down to about 32 lp/mm - DEP is just a manufacturer - unless you get a datasheet you really don't know what you are getting.
Do you have a model number or type?

David
David, its an xx1450 tube. thanks for any info.
DEP tubes are not my thing....I will say power supply issues are a problem. David can tell you more. I don't use the tubes and don't like them. Just my honest opinion.

There's quite a lot of Photonis xx1450 tubes - they are non-inverting PVS-7 type tubes.
See:
Expect it to be fairly low in performance - Sub Gen III Omni I level. About the same as early AN/PVS-5's in terms of performance - unless there's a datasheet with more, it is a capable tube, but performance is very low - it will work under starlight, but you'll struggle to see any detail at all - people walking around up close and large vehicles will show up fine.
About the same performance level as this under rural starlight conditions:
and that's assuming it's in good condition...
I would not spend a lot on it -

David.
thanks for the info. i will keep saving for a GOOD tube. -tm
Been watching this site for quite a while now but this is my first post. As usual David is right. The DEP / Photonis tubes are from my experiance Good though in general come in around Gen3 Omni III . They are more expensive than the U.S tubes but then as the U.S is reluctant to export they are about the best we can get hold of.
The Gen2+ SHP tube can vary in preformance and I understand are in General XD4 or XR5 tubes that have been downgreaded as not milspec so can be a Box of Chocolates as far as what you get.
It may be of interest to some that most users of Night Vision equipment down here in New zealand use it for Deer and Pig Hunting. Deer are an introduced pest so quite legal as are the pigs.
