I scored an awesome set of PVS-7B's off of Craigslist yesterday for a great price and now I'm trying to ID the tube.

Tube is marked

PART NO: 300025-3
SERIAL NO 4425XXX
ACC. DATE 94-45

Remove the batteries so that it doesn't get accidentally powered up. Unscrew the front lens and there is your tube. Pull the tube straight out. When reassembling it, make sure all the tabs line up.

Do so in as clean, dust free area that you can. It is also a good idea to get the canned air dust cleaner to clean it up when reassembling it.

Thanks. I was worried about breaking something.

Think you are reading information from the tube power supply. This is most likely a commercial tube and unfortunately I can't tell you much from this information. Pics of both sides of the tube as well as pics through the tube at night while powered up will help me.

Looks like the tube was made in 1994 which is Omni 3 or 2 range. Early gen 3 but still very useable. My guess is a commercial MX-10130C tube.

That's a Litton tube, the p/n points at the early 27777 CAGE code.
I'd say this is more likely a Gen2 tube, despite the 1993 assembly date.

Few pics would help greatly.

That is a tough one, buddy. For all intents and purposes, this tube should be a very late Gen2+, a civilian MX-18282/PVS-7B type made by Varo/Litton. In fact the most recent one I have ever seen.
Especially the cathode color taken at angle is quite distinctive - I've seen/repaired few tubes like that of our buddies at Spanish military (these were p/n 300138-1, though)

I would have no doubt except for one thing - contact surfaces which are of the combined PVS-7A/7B type, normally only reserved for MX-10130C and later.
I suspect that the reason for these is the late production date and the Varo guys simply used late type contact surfaces at hand.

Anyway, a very rare tube. My best is on Gen2+ with 36-45 lp/mm, though.

How interesting! That's very good to know. Thanks!

She looks like an early Gen 3 MX-10130C tube from the pics. Flex, is very good at reading numbers and his experience is to be respected. That said, I feel you have a MX-10130C or Omni II. Just what I see through the tube. Flex has extensive data records but even he knows tubes can take many twists and turns. Tough game but I think you have early gen 3 !!

That's crazy. Thanks for looking at it!
