I have a buddy that bought a pvs14 from night vision depot and he needs money and has offered to sell it to me. I have never heard of night vision depot and was wondering if they offer quality products.

Night Vision Depot is a distributor for ITT. They sell a lot of parts and tubes to dealers. They are a good and reputable company. I can't tell you how good the 14 is because I don't know the age of the tube or specs. That said. Night Vision Depot is not a backyard dealer. They are a major distributor for ITT.
He's only had it for 2 months and says it's been turned on for 5 minutes to see how it works. I'm going to check it out and see what it looks like. Anything I should look for?

See if it whines when turned on (autogated tubes mostly have audible whine). Small cosmetic defects are fine, just make sure you don't have any huge spots dead center. About all the layman can do without taking it apart and looking at the tube it has. If he has a spec sheet that is a bonus but most won't have one unless it is a Night Enforcer.
Probably has a ITT SLG tube. Same tube as in a Night Enforcer but without data sheet. If he has only had it two months it is under warranty. Call NVD and see if the warranty will transfer to you. That is a bonus as well.
All the tubes and systems I have boughyt from NVdepot th elast year came with ITT Tube sheets and as of lately 5 year warranty. Good folks I like doing business there.
Does the unit you are looking at have paper work such as tube sheet,sales ticket. and so on?
