Re-anodizing? Or best way to refinish aluminum?

I have a Daniel Defense 14.0 Lite Rail that I'm going to cut out a notch for the FSB on a 20" upper, effectively making a "14.0 FSP" rail.

I'd like to re-anodize the exposed aluminum without effecting the factory laser engraving.

Can this be done easily? Or is there a better way to refinish it to make it look somewhat factory? I've tried spray painting primer on fresh aluminum with fair results at best.

Thanks

Aluminum black is what I would try first. I have used it to finish 3/4" ports for adjustable gas blocks. It's worth a try at least. Anything else would probably alter the laser engraving or at least that is what I would think.

This stuff?

In your experience, will CLP or cleaners remove the finish?

That is the stuff! You may also be able to pick it up at Academy or Bass Pro Shops locally. No on the cleaners affecting it. It causes a chemical reaction of some type.
