Chinese Military Rifle Ban, when did it take effect?

When did the Clinton ban on military style rifles imported from China take effect? I think it was early 1994? The reason I am asking is because I am from NY and I'd like to use that as a way of verifying pre September 1994 manufacture. In particular I would like a pre 1994 ban UZI so I can have a folding stock. I realize I would also have to make the UZI 922r compliant. Any info regarding the date of the ban and if importation of Norinco Uzi's was halted by it would be appreciated!

Right, as a result Norinco made up "sporting rifles" by using thumb hole stocks, welding on muzzle nuts over barrel threads, and removing bayonet lugs, etc. to get around the ban. That is how we ended up with the MAK90, it was a model built to defeat the 89 ban. At some point in the early 90's the Clinton administration banned the import of military type rifles from China. I am not sure when that was or if it ceased the importation of the Norinco Uzi (I would think it would).

I know MAK-90's were still selling at Big-5 in California for $205.00 in June 1993. Early 94 is a good guess.

. At some point in the early 90's the Clinton administration banned the import of military type rifles from China.......

AND shit for brains also stopped all importation of ammunition from China. Kengs firearms imported a shitload of Norinco selectfire Ak's that got stopped in customs in the shipping container on an FBI sting op. and the guys that ran Kengs hauled ass to China, so they are free. Wonder how they got away...hmmmmm. The Clintons were taking large sums of money from Norinco (kept very hush-hush) because the Keng's guys were their friends (large donors)and clinton had to make it look like they were doing something about all those bad imports from China (guns and ammo). What is worse, shit for brains allowed sensitve missle tracking and targeting info to be stolen by the Chinese so instead of 30-50 miles they can now put ordnance within 30-50 yards. Keep that in mind when you see that commie ass wife of his seling us out. This is also why the guys that ran Vector got in trouble because they were dealing in Chinese ammo. They were expressly forbidden to sell the US army chinese ammo..... to give to the F..ing afgans. Would not look good that are troops our being shot at with chinese ammo that the US bought. Lovely world, ain't it?

1994. Mid year as I recall.

To round out the story,
Bush 41 banned imports to help domestic mfgs going into bankruptcy (colt)
shrub 43 banned imported barrels in order to stop the flood of cheap kits, which were hurting,....domestic mfgs.

IIRC it was '92 when they shut off the import of SKS that took factory detachable AK mags.

ATF started enforcing the "replacement part only" section of the existing law, regarding receivers and barrels. Bad law but it was being bent pretty hard. Only way to stop it would have been to change the law.

Not exactly? Alberto Gonzales was the one who signed off on the ban! It was stated so in the new interpretation.

The ATF is a hyper-politicized LE agency. Probably the most.
If a pro-2nd AG was nominated, it would have sent a strong signal tot he ATF to stop stretching their rules interpretation.
But NO.

Shrub nominated and got an Attorney General who openly stated he was for the AW ban long before, during and after, bush brought him into his Presidency.
