Okay guys I just got my NFA trust finished up and I am itching to use it. I want to start out right and get a HIGH quality 22lr suppressor. The hosts for the suppressor will be a Ruger 10/22 factory threaded and a Ruger 22/45 factory threaded with the dual rails.

I have pretty much ZERO experience with this type of stuff. That being said I understand that this is the type of thing worth paying to do right.

I am leaning towards an AAC Element but I am open to other ideas.

When it comes to NFA stuff I definitely take the "buy once, cry once" approach because I figure I'm pretty much stuck with it for life. I began my search for a .22 suppressor about 10mo ago and finally settled on one of the hottest suppressors out there, the SS Sparrow. While I've only fired about 150rds through it so far I have zero regrets. I had many people tell me to stay away from aluminum cans for ease of cleaning and durability which made sense. I looked at AAC, SWR, Liberty, Gemtech and a few others. I almost went with one of the Liberty titanium cans but IIRC liked the size/weight and takedown of the SS Sparrow better. I planned to use my can on both pistols and rifles so that played a role in my decision.

Tough to go wrong with the SS Sparrow.

For me it's the Gemtech Outback IId, without question. Very light, very short, very effective - and a great company to buy from that's been in the business for a long time and who stands behind their work.

Going to do long range sessions with plenty of mag dumps & don't want to clean it more often than once every few thousand rounds? SS Sparrow. I use my sparrow for plinking and new shooter orientation

Want light, quiet, no POI shift? Gemtech Outback IID. I use my 2 Outback IID's for hunting and precision work. Did great for me at Appleseed. (Not to say the SS Sparrow hurts accuracy... but on my 10/22 I get some POI shift... with the OBIID I get none)

What does your local dealer stock?

If he doesn't stock Sparrows, you need another supplier.

The Sparrow is the current generation answer.
