6.8 can or just get a 762 can?

The boss man at work came to me for some advice on his rifle. He's building a 6.8 and wants a can. Cost really isn't much of an object here.

I think he should just get a 762 can as it's far more versatile. He also shoots his 300 winmag at distance so that's another + for the 762 can. He's kind of stuck on AAC right now. Are any of their 30 cal can's ok for 300wm? All I know is that a lot of people are not happy with the mounts for one reason or another or has this been resolved?

Anyway, if he's dead set on a 6.8 can, are there any that are purpose built for caliber? I thought there were. If I'm wrong please let me know so I can pass it on to him.

Oh, last thing, he's concerned about warranty and baffle strikes. Who, in your opinion, has the best warranty on their cans? Thanks in advance.

30cal can.

Not sure if the SDN6 is warranted for WM, but you'd probably get AAC to tell you with certainty.

I know YHM warranties the 762 cans with any caliber which will fly through the bore. Your boss though doesn't seem to have any options in his choice of suppressor.

No suppressor MFG that I'm aware of warranties against baffle strikes if they didn't thread the barrel or had proof it was done at a reputable company. I've got ADCO doing one now and had a local AR MFG do another and know both are done correctly.

YHM has a new 762 QD Brake coming out in 5/8-24 and would be a nice addition to a WM one day and provide some blast baffle protection for that powder charge contained within the cartridge.

I think if he's set on AAC a 90T mount and new corresponding suppressor would be a great choice.

If he shoots 300 winmag, I bet he will have to step it up to the 'big bore' cans (rated for 338 and lower).
I dont think a 762 can will hold up.

Gemtech's HVT cans are rated to .300 WM

Call AAC to confirm, but employees have posted that as long as it's on a longish barrel (26" or more maybe???) that .300 WM is fine. I'd imagine they don't advertise it because they don't want to cut into their 300SD sales. If the SDN6 can handle a 12" .308 SBR I don't think the pressures are much higher at the muzzle on a 26" .300WM...but I've been wrong before.

AAC does make a M4-2000 for the 6.8 caliber, but the 762-SDN-6 will be more versatile. The 762-SDN-6 suppressor can work on the 300WM as long as the barrel is long enough. Or you can get a AAC Titan which is rated up to .338 Lapua Mag and would be better for .300WM but it will be rather large to use on a 6.8 rifle.

Surefire 762K is 300 rated. I'd get that. You won't have the mount issues that AAC has.

A YHM rep emailed a response that said the SS 762 can was rated up to 300 Win Mag. I would just get the .308 can.
