RR 7.62 LAR-8 Carbine Suppressed issues?

Hey Guys:

I wanted to see if anyone out there was running into issues suppressing their RR 7.62 LAR-8 carbine. I wanted to add the AAC SDN-6 suppressor. A reoccurring theme seems to be the bolt hold open breaking. Has anyone found a solution? I wanted to ask befor I went out there and started spending money on a problem that may not actually happen.

Thank you.

The problem probably is excessive bolt speed and that's caused by overgassing. One way to confront it is to add weight to the buffer. (Switch to a heavier buffer). Adjustable gas in another.

I have never had any issues with my LAR8 running my YHM Phantom. Did not do anything special, usually shoot Aussie surplus through it.

Hey Stumps, thanks for your reply. I know this may sound a little weird, but could you measure your buffer and post a reply? The one that I currently have is 3.25 inches and weighs 4.8 ounces. The 3.25 length is typical for a AR 15 carbine buffer, but not for a .308 buffer. I found this to be a little odd.

Thank you!

Hey guys:

Steve over there at the RR industy forum just confirmed that the weight and length of the buffer are correct at 4.8 ounces and 3.25 inch length. It looks like I am just going to run my rig the way it is with a suppessor based on what Stumps posted.

Thanks.
