 Titanium Q.D. Phantom 7.62???

I'm looking for a lightweight suppressor for hunting. This will be my first buy and would be used on a .308 AR-10 for hunting hogs at night. Since it will be carried quite a bit weight will be a big concern therefore im leaning towards the Titanium phantom 7.62. I will also be using it on a .308 Remington AAC-SD and a .223 AR-15. Through research I have heard that the titanium models can "spark" so will this degrade nightvision devices any worse than my current YHM flashhider does? I don't plan on ever shooting more than 30-40 times during the course of a night hunt so will the Titanium model hold up and be a great choice?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I make my first purchase.

I don't think the sparking will be much of an issue with NV. Longer barrels might be less prone as it could be powder burn or lack thereof causing it.

Thats what I was thinking as well because my current flashider still produces quite a lot of flash. My main concern is with guys saying that the titanium doesn't hold up as long. Are they talking about during full-auto situations? Because this will be used strictly for hunting hogs and then target shooting with my Remington 700 ocassionaly.

Titanium begins to lose strength at 600*F. I'd hate to see a 700 get that hot to cause suppressor failure. If you reload you might be able to get a charge which causes less flash as the powder burn is more efficient and burns more completely prior to the bullet exiting the bore.

I am pending 2.5mo on the Ti762 and will be running on several hosts from a 10.5" 556 LMT to a couple 10.5" 762x39s and eventually a 7.5-8" 300BLK which will be shot almost completely suppressed and with subsonic loads.

I'm imagining the subs will be less "sparky" than supers due to half the powder charge being half that of a supersonic load but still having 75% of the barrel length by which to burn.

I do not have any experience with charge data for 308s though.

Hope this helps get you some Hogs depopulated

I'm pretty sure the spark is from the Ti and not the powder. If you take a SS phantom and a Ti phantom and run them on the same host with the same load the Ti will spark and the SS won't. That being said I don't think it will matter much I have hunted at night unsuppressed with my pvs14 and a A2 flash hider on my at and the autogate just kicks in for a second.

Ok so it sounds like the titanium one should be good to go. I know what you mean, my D740 scope flickers sometimes with the flash of my AR-10 but its so fast I don't notice it 90% of the time when I'm chasin pigs. Is there any good websites that would direct me to dealers in my area that I could get the Yankee Hill supressor from? Im in South Texas and google results arent coming up productive.

The titanium sparking is from erosion. He's saying if the powder charge is more completely burned, you're going to have less erosion and therefore less sparking.

My dealer said the 7.62Ti is hard to come by right now. He got mine through M3.

Well I was also looking into the Gemtech Quicksand model. Except it is heavier and longer which is my concern with mobility and having to pack it around all night on an already HEAVY rifle. Any other recommendations if I can't get a Phantom 7.62Ti locally? Im more worried about the quality and sound suppression than the price since this will be my first and probably only one for a long while I want to do this right.
