I have an sas 45 titanium pistol can that im looking to sell. How big of a hassle its it to sell in state? Would it be easier to just take it to my local c3 dealer for consignment or just do a private sale? Nothing wrong with it at all just not very practical and I don't shoot it much.had less than 250 rounds through it.
Thanks!

Private sale should not be a problem. Just do the forms like you did with the dealer. The approved form gets sent back to you. Listing it on http://www.gunbroker.com or another auction site might help.

Not that big of a deal at all.
I purchased a used can from a member here last year.
Sent him the money,he sent me the forms and then I mailed them with my trust/200.00 check to the BATFE.
5 months later he got the approved form 4 and sent it to me with my can

You cannot legally leave your can with a dealer for consignment. Just sell it privately.

So you can sell your USED can through the ATF without involving an FFL with an SOT?

if in-state. out of state requires owner to transfer to SOT in state w/ $200 tax, form 3 it to out of state SOT, then form 4 it to out of state buyer with $200 stamp.
