On the letter you will note a reference to a Jeff Stockdale at the end. I called to speak with him, but he is no longer in that office, but left a vm for his replacement. I do not remember her name. Well, she called me back today and seemed fairly up to speed on the issue. If I understood her correctly, the concerned person who helped get the letter out in the first place may be headed to D.C. for a meeting and I believe that Rep. Thornberry has a request for a meeting with the ATF to see what can be done about the efficiency issues. Hopefully, some true reform is on the way.

On a side note, I also found an archived thread by Felrom. I have since used his form letter to send off emails to my senators and representative. As 2 of them are on appropriation commitees. I actually went into Sen. Jerry Moran's office and spoke with someone in the office, as well.

I do this now as I am now wading into this blackhole of wait. My .22can showed up last week, and I had a spare lower for an SBR.

Thanks for your help and for getting involved. It is only by bringing pressure to the ATF that we can even hope to ever have timelines approaching reasonable. IMO 5 weeks for a form 4 would be reasonable when compared with other paperwork processes, and Instant dealer to dealer transfers would be a reasonable goal. I visited my congressman 3 times and this was the response I received related to their correspondence with the ATF:

So I can only hope that quality of performance issues will be more properly stressed with the ATF going forward. If this were the alcohol side of operations and people had to apply 6 months in advance for a case of beer, I'm pretty sure the country would be total chaos right now. It's only reasonable that the firearms side also gets attention.

Absolutely. Good analogy with the alcohol comparison. I wonder how much the .gov takes in on taxes for the booze. I will push my reps with this info as well.

It is probably a staggering amount of money. Around here there are probably 20 licenses per town.

We need to follow this. I checked the House Judiciary Committee website and the current schedule only runs through next Thursday. We need to watch for when the ATF is coming to testify and make sure the Representatives know that this is important.
