Before I expand my cartridge collection, I thought I would seek some advice here. I already have a 40mm training round (M-781) and would like to add any other 40mm non DD rounds to the collection. I have seen M583A1 White Star Parachutes for around $50 each. I also found a XM576E1 Buckshot round for around $125. Are either of these considered DD's? Are there any other 40mm rounds availble non DD 40mm rounds availble? Also, do those prices seem to be fair market value or are there better deals out there? TIA
Neither of those rounds is a DD. You can get smoke and gas rounds as well, also non-DD.
The only rounds that are DD by themselves are HE rounds.
If you ever plan on using a grenade launcher invest in one or two of the. 9 or 18 .22LR adaptors. They fire 9 or 18 .22LR all at once. Its Fireing a lot more and at a higher muzzle velocity than the 40mm buckshot rounds.

You will have to watch auctions to get some of the more rare 40mm ammo, you will easily spend $3,000 just starting off, getting one of each avalible round.
