Just saw these on the website. Anyone tried one yet? I know the old Havoc could be bored to 40, is this new one still a good candidate for that?

I love the look of this thing. Thought I should post pic since there are ton of views and no responses.

Think this would be as strong as the old design?

Well, according to Spike's:

The proprietary STZ push button cylindrical breech lock design is 3 times stronger than existing lever lock systems.

That sounds awfully promising.

I'm pretty stoked to see this, as side-loading does seem a better and sturdier system. The main questions I have:

The first standalone Havocs on the X-stock were not rail mount, they were dedicated.

I know this may be a little late, but I just got around to signing up here.

I am a proud owner of a 9 inch side-loading havoc by spikes. I must say, I am very impressed by the quality, fit an finish, and overal appearance. I do have it mounted on one of their Chaos Rail Systems. If there is any Info you would like, please let me know, I am more then happy to share.

What would be the advantage of boring it out to 40mm? I know that's the size of 40mm HEDP rounds, but we can't get those anyways. Just curious.

I'm not sure to be honest. the only thing i can think of is possibly more options of ammunition available. Maybe somebody else can help with this topic. If you have questions about the launcher itself, i can help, but beyond that, I may not be your best source of info. I'm sorry I cant be of more help.

I got one earlier this year, mounted it to my ar, made it very heavy (duh). I looking at getting the folding stock for it, I also go the 26mm adaptor, it is a blast, I've shot a couple of flares and some smoke.....it was a blast.

I purchased my HAVOC four years ago, mounted it on one of my SBR's and then later mounted it on a Kaos rail system. From day one I had no interest in launching flares or smoke. I did however want to buy commercial practice rounds and also use a Beehive Round. For that I needed to bore it out to 40mm and register it as a DD. I currently make Flaschette rounds, PaintBall rounds, explosive chalk rounds, bird bombs, etc.

Who did the barrel work for you? And what did an extra barrel cost for it?

Check out Grog's website and ASA ammo website. A lot of great info there.

ndgunguy:
I had a local (when I lived in UT) tool and die shop bore the tube it came with. They charged me $60 to do the work and then I ended up buying another tube a year later so I would have both 37mm and 40mm.

AR15guy:
I do not have a web site. I learned most of what I know about reloading 40mm and 37mm from Grog's web site and from Mike Patterson who posts on Grog's site.
