Best place to get M203?
Does anyone know who has the best price on a standard mount 9" barrel M203?
I know LMT has them for $1,500, are there any other options?
Thanks,
~Augee
LMT is probably the best value. There are several people that make them though.
Make sure whichever you choose that they open far enough to load the longer rounds like parachutes.
The Colt M203s will not load these rounds.
The Colt M203 will open enough to load and fire any para flares. GROG
Weird, they said it wouldn't in the armorers class.
The question is, does anyone sell them as just a receiver for less than Shivak, because you know, i could buy a complete m203 for less than his receiver.
There's a guy in Elyria, Ohio... Randy Shivak. Very nice guy. He goes by the handle "Mr. 40mm" - he makes them:
Mr. 40mm
He also makes and sells a variety of .22LR "beehive" rounds and stuff like that.

If a complete one is less, then why don't you just buy a complete one?

Was wanting to install a 37mm barrel, would later install the 40mm after registering it.

I have quite a lot of experience with them. They do. GROG
Not that GROG needs any backup but he is right, I have loaded and shot them myself.
Thanks, guys.
A 203 is something that I keep trying to convince myself that I don't need, have no practical use for, and that has expensive ammunition.
Problem is, every couple of months, I end up browsing around 203s again, and thinking about how cool it would be to have one. Then I convince myself I don't need one again. And the cycle continues...
Thing is, usually the end of this cycle is that I eventually end up getting whatever it was I was coveting anyways.

You know you want one... You know... you know....
I must say that now is the time. Prices have not been cheaper in a LONG time. Brand new LMTs going for 1300, there was a source for 203 receivers for 500, but I think they sold out. Even prices on Colts are dropping. Keep your eyes open, and good luck. We also have a support group for ammo reloading. GROG
Where are LMTs going for $1,300? The LMT website is showing $1,500. Given the innate $200 tax stamp, any discount is appreciated! Not worried in the least about getting a 37MM, figure if I'm gonna do it, may as well go balls to the walls DD.

What source has the receivers for 500? They'd get more in right? Ohiorapidfire went out of business if it was them though.
Clyde Armory
http://clydearmory.com/ used to sell LMT M203 receivers only. Both the standard mount and the rail mount. It 's not on the website anymore but it's worth a call.
Isn't it way cheaper just to buy a complete one?

That's like calling Happy Hour an AA meeting.
I finally heard back from DSA.
Dude at DSA says they make their M203, it's not an LMT. I asked if they sell it in a title I configuration, or with a 37mm barrel. He said no, and suggested I get a Havoc from Spikes.... Then I 'splained to him that it was easier and cheaper to buy it as a non-DD, and register it myself.
I haven't seen one up close, but it's an option. Maybe if they get enough calls, they'll sell them without barrels, or as smoothbore 37's.
