New toy.
Well in a few months anyway.
Any idea if one of those lage 22 kits will fit in the sidecocker upper? I have no idea of the make.
Also the guy has an OLD cobray suppressor. is it worth buying? can anyone update it at all?

I wouldn't buy the suppressor. Unless they give it to you, and you only have to pay the $200 transfer. As far as the lage .22 upper, isn't it just that, a whole new upper? I didn't think it was a drop in kit to use with the stock upper from the MAC's.

He makes 2 of them for the M11...
One is a drop in for the stock upper. The other is a drop in for the MAX-11.
I have no idea if the m11/22 kit will drop into the side cocking upper though...

The regular isn't a drop IN, it's a drop ON. I suspect the same thing for the MAX-11, with different styling, but couldn't say for sure.
If youre not sure, order the stock kit, and it will entirely replace your side cocking upper while you're firing 22.

M11/22 "Drop-in" Kit
Max-11/22 "Drop-in" Kit
One of these may be able to be adapted to your side-cocking upper, but neither of them replaces the entire upper. From what I hear, Richard Lage is a nice guy. If you email him at sales@max-11.com, he might just be able to tell you how to make it work. Be sure to post what you find here.
Yep both kits are drop in type with barrel liners and new bolts.
I did find is on the lage site:
The kit works well with aftermarket sidecocking upper receivers, but the rate of fire will be a little higher.
OP would want the M11/22 kit and not the longer MAX-11/22.
You will enjoy the kit, I have one for my MAX-11 and it's great fun and runs very well.

Thanks.
Ive got a few months to learn about everything.

Also are there any parts i should replace on the lower?
I plan on buying a amp11 or max31 uppers also.

Contact Richard Lage and get on the M11/22 list and the Max31 list asap.
You don't hafta buy when you number comes up, and they ask for no $$ up front, but both are a 9 months + wait right now.
Lages 22 kit is the most fun you can have with a MG with your clothes on.

I would give it a try before replacing anything. Do you know what year it was made? There are reports of some of the later ones having hear treating issues with the sear so it may wear faster...I have an 86 gun and haven't replaced a single original part though and it goes well.
+1 to the advice above about getting on the lists for the lage products.

Will do.
Also do you think the MAX31 is better than the AMP11?

The Serial starts with "86-" so im assuming its an 86 gun.

My bad, I'd been looking at the practical solutions kits for my M10, which are drop on.

Thanks for the correction!

I'm still waiting on my notification for the Max 31. I have 100% confidence the Max 31 will be a truly amazing product.
But Ive gotten extensive trigger time with the AMP11, and its a really great upper too.
AMP 11 you can have prolly in a month or so, so there's that.
AMP 11 has the ability to use the 36 rd stick mags, Max 31 does not. That's a big factor to me. Either can use both coffins (pricey) or drums (cheap)

Why is that? (ive actually got some stick and drums mags i bought once, just because.)

Mr Lage said something to the effect of it would not be possible to re-work his design to use the stick mags. That was prolly a year ago now, but I haven't heard anything differen since.
I have a max11 presently and my newly acquired max31 should show up this week.
my thoughts:
if I want to run a stick mag, I'll run the max11
if I want to run a drum, I'll run the max31
I have no desire to run a "long" SMG with a stick mag. the whole point in the longer upper is to run a drum. IMHO and YMMV
I also have the max11/22 kit. which gets a lot more use than the max11 in 9mm.
it rings steel plates the same and with the use of the butler creek loader, can put 40 rounds into a mag in about the same time as it takes to put 10 in a 9mm mag. so loading mags is a lot faster. not to mention the ammo is much cheaper.
I personally chose the max31 due to experience with lage's other products, his customer service, etc. top notch isnt a big enough compliment.
AND I have his other products. keep it in the family.
which is in no way a statement against the AMP. just dont know their product.
i got on the list for the 22, max11, and max31 kits today.

The max11/22 kit works fine in your side cocker upper. Be careful not to jam the charging handle too hard to the rear or it will stick. Just far enough to cock works great, then push it back forward so the bolt doesn't bounce off of it.
The swd 9mm can works pretty damn good with fresh wipes (YES YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN).. Or send it to bowers and have him install his wipeless kit. I did and love it. Don't pay more than 1-200 bucks for the can tho, after the wipeless conversion you could have gotten close to a modern 9mm can..
The max31 and amp uppers are very cool. The drums are way easy to load and even easier to unload :)

The guy got back w/ me on the can today and asked 300 for it. I told him id give 100. Needless to say i didnt pick up the can.

FWIW, in several NFA estates I've cleared, suppressors like original Cobrays are just surrendered to local LE for destruction. Such old suppressors have literally no value –– I've posted "free if you pay the tax" ads and no one will take them.

only reason i might have wanted it for was to run 22lr through w/o clogging up one of my others. Ooh well. the m11 was 2500.

Wish someone in my state would run an add like that. How crappy could an old suppressor design really be??

pretty crappy
however, for less than the price of a new (lower end) can, you could have it recored for nostalgia.
that being said, there was just a group buy on coastal cans on another board where the MIMS (9mm) went for $200.

They are BIG and HEAVY.. However they handle full auto fire just fine, can be taken down to clean, replacing the wipes is not hard and makes them very quiet for 50-100 rounds.. 22lr works great.
They do vibrate loose and you have to tighten them up.
The Bowers wipeless upgrade is not designed to be user serviced, however he says he will clean it for you no problem for postage. They aren't easy to put back together.
