I have seen a few videos on you tube with people using the AR-57 upper on a RR. Anybody have any experience with this? I know the operation is blow back and was thinking it might cause some wear and tear on the lower like the 9mm and 22lr uppers can. I like the high capacity mags and the ammo is relatively cheap. I was also thinking about suppressing it with my m4-2000 or maybe one of my 9mm cans. I am not sure if the upper requires the use a buffer but if it does what buffer is the best for this. thanks for the help!
I have an AR57 upper on a RRA lower - no issues. The upper came with a Buffer (feels like an H2 weight wise). I use a standard carbine buffer spring in a commercail tube with a Magpul CTR. I also run my YHM Phantom Ti suppressor on it (the 5.56 model). Never a problem - except with some CHEAP Korean mags that I had to fiddle with to make them reliable. It's a great setup and I enjoy shooting it.

This is what I don't understand. I don't have anything against the caliber, but just don't see much reason to go with it due to the high cost of ammo. Seems like it would make better "sense" (if we can ever use that word in this context

) to buy a beater upper, beta mag, and shoot wolf... So am I missing something obvious about this setup?
No your really not. You hit all the high points actually. I have several beater uppers and a beta mag already. I guess I'm just a upper junky and was looking for something a little different. I know as far as the ammo goes it is mediocre at best but still kind of well "different" I guess.
