where to get scar 17s mags right now

I am on Midway's back order list for early july. Anybody know where to find these mags today?

While some members are posting at "high-end Gun Broker" prices, others are more realistic.

Frankly, I'm not paying $75 each plus shipping for magazines that retail for half that (less with the C&R discount on Midway). I'd rather wait 37 days.

But I did pay $325 for 5 with shipping! That was the upper limit of my stupidity.

Since I just got my scar, I can live with one mag for a while. I would, however, like to pick up 5 or 6 mags in the near future. Are there any real ETA's from vendors. Or is it all just rumors and hearsay at this time.

Midway is saying they will ship 6/30, but I have heard they keep pushing the date back. I just put my order in today, as I just got my SCAR today in all 3 colors of FDE....I still love it though and do not care about that so much.

Yep, every month the ship date slips another month.

I placed my order in March, have no idea how many orders are still ahead of me, but I'm still patiently waiting.

Same; placed an order in March and another in April. Midway still has the best prices in town, and they do fill backorders when they get the supplies in. It may take a while, but you won't pay a premium for them.

My local funstore gets them in one or two at a time as well. Whenever I stop in I check to see if they have any...got lucky last time and scored the one they had.

Absolutely no luck at the 1500. My usual hot spot was out. I didn't seven see a Heavy in either color. SSGTserving in the "Stan" says that the Heavy order's are being ramped up because of the increasing combat distances. I guess .223 is deadly if it can reach it's target. 7.62 it is then.

I just made a phone call about the magazine availability to civvies and I hate to tell you it will be the end of August due to military contract obligations. Sorry to bear bad news but for those patient ones out there, avoid GB and the EE unless you have to get sum!

I read some of the posts calling him an idiot for doing it. 120 hours of Call of Duty allows you to speak knowledgeably on all military topics I suppose.

If it was just modifying the mag well I would try it. But you have to modify the mags, too. I am sure after 3 or 4 mags you get pretty good at it and can do it quickly. I wonder if I will be saying the same thing when august comes and there are still no mags available.

Does DSA not carry them? They have them on their website but it does not say that they are out of stock. $30 ea. though.

Just pre ordered 2 of the 25 rnd mags. I did not want to be a hoarder and save some for the rest of you guys. If they work as good as I think they will, I will be ordering several more.

I'm not really familiar w/ DSA, do they have a pretty good reputation?

I have a bunch of factory mags, just always keeping my eyes open for alternatives.

Some parts ARE unavailable. I tried to order pieces of the bolt, extractor, etc and it was a no go. I also tried to sneak a barrel in there and couldn't do it. I'm not sure about some of the lower parts (trigger, etc).
I ordered some extra screws and the barrel retention screws (I managed to snap one somehow - despite having the SEEKONK tool). The only reason I was able to avoid a minimum 5 week wait on that repair was b/c a good dude hooked me up. Now I'm sorta prepared...

Moral of the story is the lowers are available. If I had a 17, I wouldn't have a problem modifying the plastic.

With the initial high military demand i can see why there isn't an abundance of parts right now.

I would do the mod as well if I had a 17.. I will probably buy the lower, as I have access to a 17, just for a tinker project.

DSA is a first class outfit, so the 25 rounders will be good to go. I have been buying from them for over 15 years and all their merchandise is top quality. If there are any problems they will fix them asap, not go out of business like C products.

What is fascinating is that here on ARFCOM, where people got out their pitchforks and torches over companies that "price gouged" we seem to be good with people buying SCAR 17S magazines at the MSRP of $34.99 and selling them for $70.

I just ordered 6 DSA 25 rounders for my SCAR 17. I have a lot of faith in DSA. I bet I will get the DSA mags before my order from Midway comes in.

Yes they did. DSA has always had excellent warranty and customer service so far as my experiences have been over the last 15 years. If the mags are bad, they will fix them or refund, no problem.

I received two new mags!

If you look at the FNH USA website 2011 commercial catalog it lists the SCAR 17s magazines as being "made in the USA". Is a sub-contractor making them or is FN making them in house? Oh yeah, and where the hell are they!? Supply is so short there is one auction for 17s magazines on gun broker. One!
