It ran flawless and I was getting good groups. The slightly tarnished cases comment from Samco was a bit of an understatement! The spent brass matches the FDE really well. Tomorrow I plan on going back to around 150 yards and getting a final dialing in of the Viper PST.
good to know....
I have a crate of Port I bought from AIM in 2003 for $165 (!!!!), which is the next thing I'll break into to run thru my 17S.
Wish I could say I had 20 crates....

I was saving a sealed Port. battle pack for something.
Three trips to the range with the SCAR blew through all of it and then some.
Of course, just about everybody wants to shoot it and I'm always happy to oblige.
Absolutely flawless: no failures of any kind, AND clean.
Wish I could say the same about my AR-10B.
I bought a case of the Port ammo for a class last year and one of the battle packs had an ~30-40% dead primer rate in my SCAR 17S. Full firing pin strike with no ignition. The other 4 packs ran great. Just FYI.

10-4 on the dead primer.
Ran about 600 rounds of South African through mine Saturday, only had one with a bad primer.
Mine *REALLY* likes Aussie ammo...good and hot with good groups
Certain lots of Port are famous for their hard primers. I have some Port that my 17 won't fire well, about 1/3 of a mag has missfires, but my FAL ignites each and every one. Pity, because this lot of Port is extremely accurate out of the 17 when it does fire. Fortunately, the FAL loves it also, and fires it flawlessly. In the early days of cheap and reasonable FNFAL's, the Port issue was well hashed out. The cure for the FAL's was a stronger/newer hammer spring, and in some cases the after market hammer was at fault also and needed to be replaced. (some of the hammers had sear notches too high and the hammer was held forward far enough that it didn't have enough travel needed to build up velocity.) So save the Port that won't work in your 17, it is still great ammo. One of these days maybe we will be able to find slightly stronger hammer springs for our 17's. 'just because',

Total of 80 rounds through the 17 after today and no bad primers..... yet. Hopefully it was a production series QA issue. If I discover primer issues, I will go back to Argentinian or G-DAG.
Gotta love ARFCOM for the downlow on ammo.
