Just picked up my new 17 today.

Im wanting to get an ACOG in 4x32 with the BAC option. Do they offer one set up like this with a 308 calibrated reticle?

Go with the TA11 instead. Better eye relief, great for the .308. I got nailed in the face a few times using a TA31 on the 17.

Edit: but to answer your question, I've seen somewhere that someone sent back a 4x model and had the .308 BDC installed.

Either of yous twos have pictures of theses setups. I could probably search through the pic thread. I figured asking would be an easier route.

TA11H-308

Very happy with mine so far. Just make sure you get the LaRue mount for it (LT100) - worth every penny.

The TA11 is what I'll be going with....eventually.

Does this have the BAC?

Ya see, Im going to be using this in Heavy Metal divison a few times this season. So I need to be able to engage close targets. 3.5 magnification at 10 yrds doesnt work so great.

What do they charge to do that?

If I'm not mistaken, all ACOGs have the ability for BAC. The Trijicon website should answer all your questions. I have a TA33GH on my AR. It offers 3x magnification, light weight, and with both eyes open (BAC) the ability for close quaters engaugement.

ETA: I borrowed a TA11 from a buddy of mine. Its the triangle reticle with 600m drop compensater. Going to try it out today, but I love it already. Thanks for the help guys.
I think you might be right. This is the one Im looking at. TA11H-308. Its close enough to the reticle style Im using on my 1-4x scoped for 3gun that I dont think it would be a huge adjustment. ETA: I just wouldnt need one thats calibrated for up to 1200M. 600M would be more than enough I would think. Ill have to look into it a little more.

Does anyone have any opinions on the higher magnification ACOG units (TA55) or any information on the rumored variable magnification ACOG?

I'm looking for an optic for my 17S as well, but I want something that illuminates without having to depend on batteries.

Very happy with the TA11.

ETA: OP this is the optic with the reticule in your previous post. It is heavy but I like the eye relief, and the horseshoe works well for me.
I have a TA31 on my RFB and occasionally it bumps my glasses.

This is the one I borrowed off of my buddy. The only thing I dont like it the triangle. If I could get the horseshoe like the picture above, and only with the 800m BDC and none of the other crap I dont need, I would buy it today haha.

I have a TA31F on my 16s that I really like, however I still occasionally get bumped in the eyebrow if shooting from a awkward shooting position with the 5.56.

So for that reason I would get a TA11E with the 7.62 BDC reticule for longer eye relief

TA11E

I used one on an M16A4 in Afghanistan for a year, and I have nothing but positive comments to share. The light gathering is amazing- I could see targets at night using just star and moonlight on many occasions.

Looking for glass for my new 17s. I have an ACOG TA11H ordered (on writing list), but the discussions on the ELCAN D2 1-4 make it sound very tempting. Currently using an ACOG 31F on my 16s and pretty happy with that. Using the 17s for tac courses and pig/ deer hunting. Suggestions?

I have a TA33-9 in .308 on mine. Very nice. Like it alot. But honestly, now that I've shot it a bunch, I want an optic with a bit more range than 3 power so I can use the rifle's potential range better. I really like the 1-8s out there but they are so pricey! I think I'm going to go with the new Leupold VX-6. Its 1-6 power and a third to a quarter of the cost of some of the 1-8s. Don't get me wrong though. I love the Trijicons. I have a TA01NSN on my AR. I don't ever foresee using something else for that rifle.
