Anyone use the WC872 or WC867 powders?
Wideners has a pretty good price on this powder. Anyone tried it? How did it shoot? Any range reports? Thanks.

I'm in the process of buying a couple hundred lbs surplus, I'll let you know :)
That would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
Very little info to be found anywhere, from my research.
Not sure about the FCSA forum (non-member).
The little I have heard is expect a fairly low velocity and large deviation if your barrel is under 30".
36" + would be ideal as this is a SLOW powder.
I've also heard it is pretty temperature sensitive.

Same here. Not much info. Everyone says its slow. It was designed for use in the 20mm. Some guys claiming running up to 230gr with no pressure signs. Others stopping around 220. Seems like it should work with a fat ole bullet like an Amax at minimum or 800gr boreriders. I'm trying to decide how much I should buy if I should buy. I have a couple kegs of H50 but a guy can never have too much supplies right? I'm wondering if my money might be better spent on the AIM surplus ammo.
I just haven't seen any hard data yet. Just guys saying yeah it shoots ok for the money.
ETA: And according to this site the 872 is being used in place of 5010 by a lot of reloaders now?

I run 240g in my M82 CQ and get right at 2575 fps on the dozen that I have clocked.
At 240g you really can't put any more powder in the case, but I haven't had any issues with pressures either.
I haven't done any accuracy testing with it .... after all ... it's an M82 CQ, but it shoots coke cans at 300 yards no problems.

Like any other powder for 50BMG, start at 215 grains and work up. A tight bolt will be the best indicator of pressure signs.
My surplus powder 50 BMG reloading experience is limited to IMR-5010. These powders are slower. Think vicinity of US869.

Can you expand on "reasonably well"
Also, which rifle system, range....
Thanks.
I picked up enough of the SA 690gr bullets, WC872 and CCI 35 primers to load around 1K for my AR50A1.
300 yards, serbu bfg 50, shot minute of angle, or so... but they were a bit spicy, sticky bolt on a handfull. so ill back it down a bit and try it again
Thank you

How much barrel are you pushing those pills through?

So you are telling me that with surplus 690 bullets, surplus powder, and a Serbu you are shooting MOA at 300 yards?
How many shots in the groups? 2?

+1
Also, did you happen to chrony the loads?
yep thats what i said, we were shooting paper targets and at the large cans of fruit (expired before anyone jumps me for wasting food) that you get from the store, mebbe 4 in diameter, shot some 690 south african and some barnes 647's both shot about the same, i will not claim to be able to hit a tennis ball at 300 but i will claim that i could scare the crap out of it..... btw, not shooting surplus (pull down) but new in the sealed jug powder and new never loaded bullets ..............
edit to add, no chrono data, too bad it was in the truck but i forgot about it, will try to remember to check next time i go out and shoot, we shot a total of 55 rnds, most were new only 15 reloads, as were trying to work up a proper load for the rifle, so there were 10 690 sa bullets and 5 barnes as they get a little pricy as far as a barrel length, its not the carbine version of the serbu, so if im not mistaken its got a 36 in barrel

I cleaned is up a little
If anyone can share some specifics from a loads they have done is say, a 30" barrel, more specify an AR-50A1 that would be sweet, okay.
