Well, that remains to be seen. For now, I am going with heavy.

looks good; 24" & 17lbs seems on the lighter side or about right.
I've shot my Steyr standing up; was more difficult to actually shoulder than to take the recoil.
Looks pretty similar to the Barrett XM500. Probably operates in the same manner.

Was it a fixed barrel
Yes. But had a lot of problems associated with the short overall length.
I could see a bullpup auto being a pain in the ass.
Hum, "compact and light weight" just seem wrong when describing a .50.

FIFY. Unless you mean actually firing it from a standing position. Then yeah I can see where it would be a pain in the ass.

Could you elaborate, please?

Talking about the mechanics of it not the recoil

I've never designed a semi-auto anything, but I do work on a lot of high speed packaging equipment.
You run into problems tuning across acceptable variences of energy input (poweder charge/projectile weight/chamber pressure)
with the lower mass of the smaller components. Lower mass with a difference of energy input results in a wider range of velocity
than can repeatably controlled. The control in a system like this is (mostly friction) all about damping all the energy by the end of the cycle reliably
(excess "left over" energy will cause wear and instability of operation, and that is best case...

)
all while ensuring throughout the cycle you have enough of an energy management design margin to conquor the occational piece of grit, cold parts, hot cartridges, etc...
It's a lot to juggle.
looks like it will be available in Sept (and every 2 weeks there after probably) and come in around $6800 or so I was told. Supposed to be using a shortstroke gas piston system. Should be interesting to see how it works, if it works. Would also like to see how the accuracy of it will be I am just not sure how much I would like to be that much closer to the boom on that guy. Definitely a candidate for a suppressor, assuming you could make one big enough to not blow all the gas out of the piston hole.

17 lbs is about what my Safety Harbor R50 (22" bbl) weighs. I've only shot it standing or kneeling. A bullpup with the weight closer to your body is going to make this rifle very easy to carry and shoot. I hope it works.
I really like it. Unfortunately the semi-auto pricing will put it well out of my reach.
Love the concept, however don't like where location of the cheek rest.
