LAR Grizzly questions, and a few about the AR50
So, I learned from LAR, that my rifle is NOT a 1 moa rifle

Oh well. Anyway, what is the best accurracy I can get with it? Normally I shoot surplus ball, API reloads (ordered; I don't reload), and surplus AP, and from what I have gathered I can expect 2-3 MOA with this ammo, from a good rifle.
What would match grade ammo get me?
Should I just sell it, and put the money toward an AR50? And can an AR50 shoot surplus ammo? I've heard they all have match grade chambers, so I'm not sure the surplus stuff would be sized correctly.
All the plinking ammo for my AR50 gets me about 2-3 moa. I've never bought any match ammo so I can't say but I hear 1moa is not unheard of.
The standard AR-50 doesn't come with a match chamber, they do have a new "National Match" AR-50

If all you want to do is do more plinking then shooting matches, the standard is perfect as it can achieve MOA or better with match grade ammo. If you plan on shooting more matches then get the NM AR-50, just remember that you'll need to do more brass prep as the standard necks on the brass will be to big to fit. So you'll need to pick up a neck turning tool and while you're shoping you might as well pick up a good set of dies, flash hole reamer, primer pocket uniformer....

I don't know what it is about the LAR Grizzly that won't make it a sub MOA rifle, you aren't the first person that heard of that has tried to get it there but couldn't. The best I've heard of is MOA and that was with alot of fine tuning of the ammo to get it there. As far as surplus goes, you wont see it any better then 2-3 MOA unless you reload it. Even then you'll probably only get 1.5-2 MOA if you take your time and do alot of prep to the ammo while loading it.
I don't care what rifle your shooting but shooting API and regular ball ammo won't get you 1 MOA. They are fun to shoot but for 1 MOA accuracy you will need to go with Barnes or Hornady quality bullets and a quality powder. I believe most people that are getting that kind of accuracy are reloading their own. I shoot a lot of API because it's quite inexpensive and will usually shoot 3 inch groups. When it switch to Barnes 647 gr HP with the same powder load it's groups right at 1 MOA.

With match ammo, what MOA can I expect from the LAR?

I don't have any experience with the LAR so I will not BS you on that. I do know that match ammo will however improve the groups over what ball or API can do.
I don't have an LAR, I have State Arms rifles. I have shot both match chambers and standard chambers in 1000 yard matches. The best group I shot with a match chamber was .4 MOA and the best group I have shot with a standard chamber at 1000 yards is .7 MOA. That is from 12 years of trying.

I have not tried to load for groups for my LAR, but with Winchester 650 gr M33 ball bullets with 213gr of H50bmg which is my plinking load for .50bmg, mine does about 1.5"@100 yard 5 round groups pretty consistently. This is me shooting prone off the bipod with no rear rest. Will it do better from a rest with quality bullets and a load to match that barrel? Probably.
I didn't buy the LAR for accuracy, I bought it for fun. I bought my Ferret50 for accuracy.
I've shot a few sub 1 MOA groups at 1000 yds with my LAR, but that was with my own hand loaded ammo and my LAR also has the match chamber. However I don't go crazy making my own ammo, the only thing I've ever done to a primer pocket was remove the crimp. My best group to date is 7" @ 1000 with Tenex bullets and 20N29 powder, and I've shot a couple 10" groups with Lehigh bullets and H50.
I bought my LAR because I just wanted a rifle that shot the 50bmg and 10 years ago when I bought it there wasn't much to choose from. What do you plan on doing with your rifle? Do you want to compete with it, or just shoot paper?

Mostly shoot paper, and... stuff... lol. But the smaller the group, the better.
this might just be my opinion, and no I have never shot comp with a 50 BMG but have with a tricked out .22lr rifle in the ARA matches. So here are a few of my thoughts.
Got to have these things to shot small groups or be able tp place a bullet in a small bulls eye.
A good rifle that is tuned.
Good ammo
And a shooter with good skills to include reading the air currents.
If you dont have any of the above then you are just plinking. And you should not worry about group size or being able to put the bullet where you want it.
When I first got my 50BMG rifle I loaded it with surplus M33 ball bullets. Mainly to shoot in the barrel and get used to the rifle and the recoil. One day I went from M33 ball to some AMax bullets. Lets just say it was an eye opener for sure. Went from about a 3' spread with the bulls eye in the center to about 12" spread with the buys eye at the bottom. Mind you I was dialing in corrections. You could see two shots 12 " high then about 6" high and then 2 shots dead nuts in the bulls eye. So, that is how I know that you are just having a blast with ball ammo. And you are serious once you load up some match bullets and really are trying to make a small group.
And with a 50 BMG, shooting at 100 yrds aint really shooting at all. Might of fact some bullets will not stabilize at such a short range. I just loaded up some 649gr brass solids and had key holing at 100 and 200 yrds. Went to sleep before 300 yrds.
