Wideners has surplus linked m33 for 225/100. Is this stuff any good for plinking?

Will this stuff work ok in my LAR Grizzly for plinking ammo? Obviously I will need to de link it first

I've got a can of this I bought some time ago. Its fairly decent. I can hit my gong at 1k with it pretty consistently out of my AR50.

The question is....is it worth the $50 to get the sealed african ammo? Which is better?

I haven't shot the SA stuff but my hunch is they're about the same for quality. The only thing I would say is my headstamps are WRA52. So it's kinda old. But I like the brass.

Great thing about M33 is your chances of starting a fire is almost zero. But my range has even banned M33 ammo due to the chance of the core still skipping over the berms or through them. Its a mild steel which retains its shape and is hard on steel plates even at 1K yrds. So, this is great price for what you are getting. Just hope your range or the one you shoot at does not ban its use. I must have about 50 M33 bullets that I cant shoot any longer after they changed the rules.

I will say as well it is hard on the steel plates. At 1k the ball ammo will go about 3/4 of the way through a 1/2" mild steel plate and make a heck of pock mark in it. I've got one of the cores I found laying around here somewhere. It mushroomed and bounced back about 6ft. My Amax rounds just slightly dent the plate at the same distance. I haven't tried my brass bullets yet.

When did they stop using Corrosive primers in 50 BMG? I had some DM 45 that was corrosive, then it was reloaded by TALON with non-corrosive primers and re-sold to public.

Lucky you for having home ranges, if they are over 600 yards.
Not in my back yard, and only about 15 miles away. But club range is 600 yrds with remote camera that we can use a laptop to see the target up close with a PTZ camera just about 20' from target.9/15/2011 9:44:28 PM

1952 was the cut off date for "most" US made ammo, 50 BMG was one of those. That doesn't mean anything foreign as you can still find it floating around even now.

Out of my cousin's Barrett M-82 this was about 3 MOA ammo. Plenty good for casual plinking. Magtech M33 ball was 1.5 MOA ammo for comparison.

I only cleaned it as non-corrosive. Widener's advertised it as non-corrosive, and I haven't noticed any signs of rust or anything in the past 6 months since I first fired that ammo through it.
Of course this doesn't necessarily mean much because we live in west Texas where there is very low humidity and almost no rain. Besides that, the barrel is chrome lined so the only place
rust would be noticeable is the muzzle break.
