Reloading started
Well, after much procrastination I finally put my Lee setup to work and cranked out 12 rounds. 690 SA ball weighed to within 1 grain for each group, CCI 35 primers, and H872. 3 rounds of 200, 205, 210, and 215. I'll give a range report soon. Rifle is AR50.
One of our FCSA shooters reduced his group sizes from over 12 inches at 200 yards to about 4" at 200 by heating his ammo to about 135 degees by placing in styrofoam cooler with chemical hand warmers for about 12 hours prior to shooting.
WC872 will work better with 800 grain bullets.
Have FUN, its a learning experience for all of us!
I'm not too worried about accuracy at this point. I just want to make sure this ammo feeds, fires, and ejects. I'll go up in charge slowly, as what little data online I can find shows people get best accuracy up around 230 grains.
If I can find my notebook I'll let you know my load data for the SA using WC872, but I think it was 220grs. - AR-50A1

So 872 should work good with my 850 gr cast then?
850gr cast? What design are you shooting? I'm currently waiting on delivery of a mold of the 850gr bullet from NOE that ROCKRAT designed.
Everything went smoothly. 12 rounds fired, no issues. 210 and 215 grains seemed to group better, but it was 1 three shot group each. I've got a bipod and monopod though, so its pretty solid. Here's two pics. Not too bad for SA 690 ball bullets and CHEAP 872 powder.

Those were shot at 100 yrds, I presume ?
750 yards, offhand in a hurricane. No, this was only a 100 yards range, that I put the target at the very back of, so 135 yards. I was just checking function and looking for pressure signs.

Looks pretty much like my results with the same projos and powder/primers.....at 220 gr's I was starting to get flattened primers though, and I noticed the cases took more effort to resize after shooting...they ran about 2550 fps.
2nd outing, at 200 yards, had one pretty good group. Under MOA w/ S African ball and surplus powder.

What kind of velocity are you getting with the 850 grain cast bullets? Are they gas checked or not? Is there any leading problems? What alloy are you using? Sorry for all the questions but I've shot a lot of cast bullets and this sounds pretty interesting.
Thanks in advance
